110 Film Cartridge Availability and Processing

Here in the UK, Jessops still process the film, they have to send it off and told me it would take a month, my film was back in 8 days! Very reasonable cost too. They also sell 110 film, however you will need to cut back the little ISO indicator tab or the Auto 110 will think the 400 asa is actuall...

110 Film Cartridge Availability and Processing

however you will need to cut back the little ISO indicator tab or the Auto 110 will think the 400 asa is actually a 200 asa and over expose. I thought that was just a Kodak film thing (unless that's the brand Jessops is selling  ) The link for film in my previous post has some info on the ...

110 Film Cartridge Availability and Processing

I've ordered 10 Konica cartridges at 200ASA from an outfit in the US. They've been cold stored with a 12/2007 date. Hopefully, 200 ASA won't cause any problems - it looks like it will cost quite a lot to find out. My first estimates seem to be seven times more than 35mm. Takes me ba...

Back to the old(ish) School

I'm taking my SFX out tomorrow! The reason why is kinda sad though: I'm going to Alton Towers and I want to take a camera. There was a time when I'd have taken a disposable to such an outing, but film SLRs are now so cheap on Ebay it actually makes more sense to take a "proper" came...

Back to the old(ish) School

alas I didn't manage to score a 28-80, but the 70-210 alone was worth more than I paid for the SFX + 35-70 + 70-210. The 35-70 is quite handy though just because it's hardly any bigger than a 50mm prime. Through various such purchases I now have 2x SFX bodies and a Z-10 which I have no parti...

Had the me super out over the weekend. What a viewfinder never ceases to amaze me the brightness of it. But again as the title post states value = disposable. This will still be working long after a lot of the current crop of consumer cams are propping up a land fill somewhere. Jason shakes head ...

Back to the old(ish) School

I think if I was a wealthy man I would have a collection of classic cars to take out at the weekend. Austin-Healey 3000, E-type Jag, etc. etc. However I am not, but I do have a collection of film camera's that I like to take out once in a while. Mostly my Super A, but sometimes my SFX and P30n come ...

Back to the old(ish) School

my ME-F is still my favourite film camera, and it's what I use if I want to use film creatively. I take the SFX out in preference only if I think I might want to hand it to someone else. Stick it in P with AF switched on and it's point and click. I'd forgotten how much I like being able to go ...

Back to the old(ish) School

I have not forgotten that little feature and I really miss it when using older lenses on the K10. Still if you look at it the other way its one of the factors that makes using older SLR cameras once in a while so enjoyable. Do you have the dedicated ME-F 35-70 lens too ? /Ian

Back to the old(ish) School

Do you have the dedicated ME-F 35-70 lens too ? /Ian Alas, no. I've never managed to pick up a working example. I understand that the AF isn't particularly good and munches batteries like there's no tomorrow, but it would be nice to get hold of one to complete the set. I originally bought the M...

Destroying cameras

In an ideal world - as you've discovered - you shouldn't let the old foam come into contact with the focussing screen. However, now it's done you have nothing to lose in cleaning the screen. I use lighter fluid and dab it on with a cotton bud. Rub the screen very, very gently with the bud and w...

Pentax ME Super...questions for users..

One fault I have found is that if you have not used it for a while, when you come to use it the shutter may give 1/2000th second resulting in gross under-exposure- this can be cured by turning the exposure compensation dial back and forth a few times to clean the electrical contacts underneath.

P30 back wont shut

I have a P30 which I have had for many years. Last week it developed a problem where the back will not stay shut reliably. It appears to lock shut then it pops open. This is not good :-( Any thoughts on what I can do about this?

P30 back wont shut

You could send it to Harrow Technical for service and repair. They did an excellant job of my old ES last year that had also developed a similar film door problem. The cost was about 80 GBP, but worth every penny.

P30 back wont shut

local to me are a branch of London Camera Exchange and a branch of Jessops. Anyone used them for repair?

P30 back wont shut

I wouldn't. Harrow Technical or Asahi Photo are my recommendations. They both have trained technicians working for them, not gap year students. To be honest, it might be cheaper to replace it from that well known auction site. The P30 goes for next to nothing. You could always upgrade to one of t...
