i suck at film - pentax me super
'Magic Needles' I grew up with these (only ever owned Pentax), and never ever had to learn how to work with the other systems. I assumed they were all like that until a lot later... Stuff it in, wind it on. Never once had a failure in 20 years, although I never really understood how i...

Please help, stuck focus ring
I recently sold a Pentax K1000 on eBay. When I last used it (about two weeks prior to sale) the camera worked perfectly. However, when the buyer received the camera and 50mm lens he said that the focus ring won't move. How could something like that happen so fast? What can be done to fix the lens, ...

Well, sometimes inexperience of users can cause a problem and i would check one long shot first. And that is that he really does mean the focusing ring and not the aperture (f stop) ring. If the latter, and it happened to be an A series lens then it won't move off the A setting unless the small butt...

The only thing you can do is ask him to return the goods for examination and repair/replacement/refund at your choice or just deduct the value of the lens and give a partial refund. It's sensible to make sure you get the same lens back that you sent... I know you may lose a little money on the...

yep so true. It may be dumb luck that it failed after you sold it. it may be rough handling, but the post office. it may be the guy who bought it broke it. Any way you cut it, it may boil down to "What is your reputation worth vs. what was the camera worth.

Sigh. The guy is being so cooperative too, I really hoped that there might be a way he could fix it on his end and make us both happy. But thank you for your advice!

Actually, I was on the receiving end of a similar incident just today: I had received a Pentax MX with a SMC-M 50mm f:1.7 lens and, after a few trials, I realized I couldn't turn the focus ring past the 2 meters distance. This is how I discovered this topic, by the way... Anyway, before doing any...

Not a very good sign for the durability of the lens, I guess, but it seems to be perfectly fine now. Worth a try. Of course you're disappointed but the lens is around 25 years old!

Not really: surprised, since it's the first time I had this kind of problem. And I'm not laying any blame...

I've had this happen in Pentax lenses-and the problem seems to go away, permanently. No real idea, sorry.

Schneider D-Xenon 18-55mm Samsung Kit Lens
Yep, Matt has shown me some major vignetting in tests he's done on film. Something I'll have to live with. Maybe my wide angle prints will wind up cropped square and I'll tell folks they're from my old TLR! Ya can take the old M and K lenses forward, but ya can't take the DA's back. Sho...

Film Camera Power Zoom
Hello Everyone. When George sold me his SFX camera body, I went and bought my first auto focus lens - an SMC Pentax FA 28-80. I've had excellent results from this pairing, and it has become a favorite. I noticed that the lens has a P A > AS switch, and the wise folk here told me it was a p...

Newbie - problem on pictures
Hi, and happy new year. It sounds to me that the shutter is faulty. It is a vertical run shutter, so maybe it is sticking. Trip the shutter with the back open and you should see if the curtain is opening properly.

Newbie - problem on pictures
Donna, Hi and Welcome. Can you open the camera back (no film obvioulsy) and fire the shutter at say, 1/15th of a second? I fear that the shutter curtain isn't always opening completely, or that your mirror isn't always flipping all the way up and out of the way. When you say that it seem...

Newbie - problem on pictures
Hi Everyone, Would just like to say thanks for all the replies. Finally got back my set of pics after doing all the recommended things and there is no black mark at all. I now have 2 cameras, my hubby dropped my first one and broke the lens and we went to get a lens off ebay and found a P30T on t...

Change out auto focusing screen replace with split screen
Hi Everyone, I have an MZ-6. I was wondering if it was possible to change out the auto focusing screen and replace it with a split prism focusing screen? If this were at all possible, would the auto focus still be able to focus? Thanks. Regards, Angelo

Change out auto focusing screen replace with split screen
As far as I am aware there were no Pentax made alternative screens for the MZ6. It may be possible but I don't think it was not designed to be a user changeable item. I actually find the MZ6 much easier to focus manually with my 'A' series lenses than the K10 Steve
