My last batch I sent to and I was very happy with the results even though it took more than a week to get the negatives back. Try using Kodachrome 64 these days. Rarely comes back from darkest Switzerland in less than three weeks. (If you are wondering why I use K64 instead of Velvia it is bec...

Question for anyone who's used an *IST (35mm).
Back to shutter noise, you will think your camera will be quiet when compared with the NOISE the Z-1p makes... my GF's sister complained about the shutter noise from her GX-10.....stopped after I put my Z-1p into motordrive mode..

Fair price for an MZS
£299 - £349 depending on condition, boxed or not, and accessories. I also have a little used MZ-S, but I've decided to keep it for a while yet. Why do you prefer using your Z1 instead of the MZ-S? Thanks for the answer. I thought I would be lucky to get £100 with the way things are now which woul...

Lens(es) advice/recommendations please.
Thanks everyone, It seems the 24-90 is held in high regard. Sticking with the MZ-S constant aperture issue for the moment, can anyone recommend something like a 24-70mm f2.8?? Re the *ist D, is it a case of the original being the best - I came across a comment that they were under rated - o...

New Here
Just joined, too, so I'll take this opportunity to introduce myself: Photo hobbyist from France, started with my dad's SP500 as a kid, bought myself a MZ-10 a few years back, and recently took up to older K-mount Pentax bodies. I've now got a MX and a ME Super (plus the MZ-10), half a dozen SM...

Program A / Pentax 28-80
It very much depends on the MF camera. ME Supers still attract a reasonable price as do Super A's and MX's. I sold a 50mm A F2 with fungus for 14.99 at the same time as I sold the Program A, crazy prices for manual primes in good condition at the moment. AF cameras appear to be snapped up for t...

Spotmatic metering problem
George, my Guru! Back from a summer at the lake - kayaking and filming wildlife with my (and your) trusty SFX. Also got a lot of use out of Don's Super Program. I've managed to log in once or twice to quickly scan messages - many new faces over the past two months! Welcome to all recent member...

Plustek Opticfilm 7200 - Film Scanner ???
Hi Shane, I'm always rather sceptical of the plustek brand in scanners. They have tended to be cheap and nasty in the past, with results which you could better using a half decent flatbed. I have no direct experience of this model, but I notice from your post that the optics used are not mentione...

Plustek Opticfilm 7200 - Film Scanner ???
Er... whatever the situation regarding what gets posted where, I'll try to answer your question... I looked at this Plustek when looking for a replacement for a Canon CanoScan flatbed... which first had a fault - which their service department somehow couldn't seem to find so they simply sent it bac...

Query with ME super SE
I had an ME Super SE which was stolen many years ago. jps is correct in that the only difference was the diagonally split focus screen and 'SE' on the front. It came with a black case. Bl**dy good camera!

Asahi Pentax S1 Light Meter
The edge of the rear door fits in a groove in the main body. This should have a rubber strip in it to act as a light seal. After about 25 years, this goes soft and gooey. There should also be a seal around the door hinge although this tends to stay intact. It is a relatively easy job to replace them...

Asahi Pentax S1 Light Meter
Hi Mannesty The link you supplied me with contains a slightly different looking exposure meter to the one that i have — mine isn't square like that but is more rounded. I think i must have some sort of earlier model as Kim Coxon's website has a manual for a "Clip-On Light Meter (Model 2)". That i...

MZ-M problem
Hi everyone, I recently got an MZ-M and wanted to use it this past week for the first time. I loaded the film, closed the back cover and waited till it went through the film loading process. Then the little film role icon started to blink on the display on top of the camera. I popped open the ...

MZ-M problem
Dear All, I'd like to tell everyone how I resolved the problem with my MZ-M. Basically, a couple of weeks after I posted the problem, I called the store where the camera was bought here in Italy. They told me to call the repair service. So, I called Tecno 2000 in Firenze, Italy. They repair P...

MZ-M problem
Hi Daniel, I just called Tecno 2000 in Firenze and asked if they would take cameras from the UK. I was told that generally they only take cameras from Italy since sending them back to you out of the country would be a problem. This is because they use a local forwarder. They also said that Pen...

i suck at film - pentax me super
Whatever you do, after pushing the film leader into the 'Magic Needles' on the right, close the camera back, shoot a shot on 125X and watch the rewind spool lever on top LEFT- it should revolve as the film goes through and there is a handy little red striped thing on the back near top right- that mo...
