Accents aside, how does one pronounce bokeh, is it

1) bow key

2) boke (like boat)

3) some other way

Now this should be an interesting thread

I'll bite. OK with a B in front. So phonetic it would sound like bookee, OK

Martin.
(now somebody explain why I answered that)
Best regards,

Martin.

I knew this could be fun, Peter, bow as in ribbon or Robin Hood

It could also be as in front of boat, I'd not thought of it that of that way

I pronounce it bo-kay. Ken Rockwell pronounces it that way - as does my son's Japanese ex-girlfriend, who is also a photographer.

Edit - If Martin's pronounciation follows Dutch rules then he's about right too, if he follows English rules he's not - sorry Martin!

My vote is for 'Bo' as in 'Bo Peep', and "Que", as in "Fawlty Towers".

True Martin - but an English person reading boo kee would pronounce it very differently to a Dutch person - they would say it more like boe kie in Dutch
Confusion reigns

Luckily the pronounciation doesn't matter in this forum, since we communicate in writing rather than speaking.

On the other hand, in conversation it would probably be interpreted correctly based on the context.
Best regards
