I was robbed

I can sympathise with you Clarky, as I had a similar experience a few years ago. My wife had died just weeks before and the ba**ards took her jewelery inc. wedding and engagememt rings, never got them back but they can't take away the memories that I have. I hope that you get some if not all of th...

I was robbed

I was allready thinking of making pictures of all jewelry in our home and uploading the smaller versions to my gmail account so even if they take my PC and backup drive I would still have the pictures. I am even thinking of buying a small safe which will be bolted to the floor to put the backup dri...

I was robbed

Sorry to hear your news Clarky. It happened to my sister a few years back. Scumbags!

I was robbed

One of the hardest challenges after having your home (and therefore your Family) violated, is to recognize that healing and forgiveness is a gift you give to yourselves, (not the person who robbed you). If you give that criminal the power to change your lives, and change who you are, then you lose s...

I was robbed

I'm sure Galoot meant it in good humour, which is often in poor taste or it wouldn't be thought provokingly funny. However I feel that when an otherwise honest person is reduced to stealing and or homelessness it is due to our failing as a society to be our brothers keepers. If our safety net ...

I was robbed

Well said (in your first and second post) Don and excellent advice as to how not to let the perpetrators continue to make you more of a victim. But WOW. I cannot believe some of the reactions expressed here as to the extent of retaliation desired for the loss of some "stuff", from amputati...

I was robbed

No that argument does not wash either. If you want to have a decent society, then you have to have deterrents that work. Hanging for murder, and jails with bread and water and no comfort for the inmates. This would be a very good start to begin to redress the balance that has certainly been lost in ...

I was robbed

So enlighten me, how to stop the rot in society before society collapses? for starters we stop by looking for short one line, hard core tactics to kick the poorest, and therefore weakest members of our societies like minorities, social assistance recipients.... We stop locking people up for petty...

I was robbed

Don, They are not first hand experiences, they are news items. Come back to me when you actually have a first hand experience in dealing with a crooked cop. Like I stated, they are around. Sounds like your town won the police lotto for hiring crooked cops. This is not the norm, maybe the c...

I was robbed

Thanks again to everyone for thier best wishes. My response to this whole debate is you have to look after yourself and if that means fortifing your home then so be it . Its the society we live in and we have to accept these things when it happens. A stronger police presence would help if the govt...

I was robbed

It went awry because the subject "been robbed", opens such a can of worms. It ain't right that ordinary law-abiding folks are subjected to the terror in their own homes of being robbed. The victim of crime today is much worse of than they were in the late fifties, when criminals got ...

I was robbed

Don, I believe I agreed there are some crooked cops, however given what they go through every day, they are still a minority given the thousands of cops out there doing a great job, despite the liberal mantra. Sounds to me like you hate all cops, for whatever reason and are having a love affai...

Getting this thread back on track. Is there such a thing existing as a Stolen serial number database? If not would it not be a great idea to start one? On this site.

Camera bag

I'd be very grateful if could report back as it does look like just what I need although I don't think I'd want to strap my rather large tripod to anything. I do need a bigger top compartment really as we are going to Lisbon soon and I am told it's backpacks only so I need to get all my clothes f...

Camera bag

All your clothes in a photography backpack ??? Hmmm, no offence but wouldn't want to be sat next to you on the plane on the way back  From what I've found not many of the photography type backpacks seem to accomodate much in the way of luggage/other non-photography equipment - when ne...

Camera bag

I would look at getting a large backpack as opposed to a camera bag and pack everything in that around your camera. Tim would'nt your tripod hit you in the back of the head carrying it like that :?

Camera bag

Tim would'nt your tripod hit you in the back of the head carrying it like that :? No, because when the rucksack is on my back it (the tripod) hangs down more vertically. Anyway, I usually carry the tripod on it's own, over my shoulder with it's own shoulder strap (it is bloody fiddly getting it on ...

Camera bag

Hmm Tamrac 7 just arrived. It seems well made and padded and the top part is a useful size but not enough for air travel! Without having too much time to fanny about the centre bit for the camera does seem limited but it does take the K100 with any lens plus the Sigma on one side, the two primes an...

advice for cleaning

Thanks you for all your comments. I really do not want to attempt cleaning the sensor myself and luckily I have to send the camera back anyway (because of the leaning pics!) so I will get a brand new camera with a brand new sensor. I don't even think my sensor needs cleaning at the moment anyway. ...
