If I ruled the (Pentax) world...
Something nice and simple for me. As I've just been outside tinkering with night time photography I was thinking that it would be nice to have the option to slightly illuminate some of the buttons on the back of the camera. Suppose I need to buy a small torch

Spotmatic II
Hi, Unless you have a service history of the Spot, it will almost certainly need a service. s there any sign of stickyness on the rear door where it rubs against the light seals? If so this needs to be addressed. It is a very simple DIY job but it would also indicate that the speeds, especially the...

Who was Ensinor? any history please
Hi Beyond the name thats on the lens I can find very little, a 28 and a couple of 135s on ebay but I can find nothing else? The reason is I found a 28-80 1:3.5-4.5 macro in a PK mount note on it says "requires attention" slight play on the focus barrel and a little sticky on the d...

Who was Ensinor? any history please
Hi, I did a quick search and there seem to be quite a few dealers with ads mainly for 2x convertors. I don't know much about the recent history but certainly the name goes back to the 50's. Quite a few folding cameras from that era had Ensinor lenses including some Ensigns which were British made. ...

Who was Ensinor? any history please
Thanks Kim Thats about all I could find. It's a heavy lens about the same length as the pentax 28-90 but with a bigger lump of glass at the front, filter thread is 72 mm. Focus ring rotation is short only about 60 degrees. Getting some reasonably results whilst relearning manual basics a tweak...

New Toy, I'm in love!
I've spent the afternoon playing with my new toy, a Tamron 300mm F2.8 MF prime. It's old, heavy and the all metal casing has seen some heavy use (though not abuse from the look of it), but the optics are clean and crystal clear, the aperture is snappy and the focus is a dream, not too heavy nor t...

Say Hello to Unlocker's Fiancee...
Hello! I'm Fiona, Unlocker's/Danny's fiancee and another newbie to the forum! I've recently bought an old K1000, due to fond memories of photography lessons at college and am toying as to whether to keep it!! I have been using compact digitals for a few years now and it's daunting going back t...

Ideas for a half day in Perthshire
Hi all I'm going to be attending a conference in Perthshire next week, in Crieff actually, but should have a few hours spare for some photography on the way up and back from Edinburgh airport. Any thoughts on locations I could get to along the way without too much of a detour? Open moorland, moun...

Ideas for a half day in Perthshire
Crieff is a fantastic place. You can get all you ask for, moorland, mountains and, yes lochs, ( well a nice river ), on foot from Crieff. The town of Crieff will keep you occupied photographically, so don't spread yourself too thin, I could spend days there. There is a spectacular butchers ...

Bad trader warning
left him negative feedback stating clearly the item was fine but he overcharged on postage. It does sound poor, the way you describe it, and since I wasn't involved I'm not, of course, challenging your account of the situation. But I have to say, the feedback that appears to be from you, reads (t...

Bad trader warning
Seems to me you just have sour grapes because he, like many others on EBay, make their money as shippers rather than as retailers I expect I could speed up the process with more practice. But by the time I've printed out the invoice, wrapped up the item carefully in bubblepack, arranged more bub...

Bad trader warning
IanCandler I have been using Ebay/PayPal for a long time. I find the best and safest way is not to buy from anyone with less than a 98% positive feedback, with at least 100 deals under their belt and only use Paypal. Try to never deal with a newbie. All of this still does not mean you will not ge...

Rant for the day!
Kim, Point taken. I usually do my best to resort mis-topic'd posts. But lately there's been quite a lot of activity and resorting is lowest on the list. I've moved at least one though ;) Matt Matt you do enough already on this forum so grab your pipe and slippers sit back and relax and let others...

blow out skys - how to solve the problem??
You can use exposure lock on all settings. I couple it to the AF point and lock focus and exposure with a half press of the shutter release. All it does is lock the exposure, so when you move the camera to recompose the readings will stay the same.

Introducing a new forum member
Hello everyone, Glad to have found these very helpful Pentax User Forums. I've been a user of Pentax lenses since the early 1980s (albeit on Ricoh XR-7 bodies!) and was finally tempted to go digital when I recently found a reconditioned *istD at a very good price, and realised I would wait fo...

my new website
Hi aj, I'm guessing you mean the mtb-guiding one. There's still the problem on there with Internet Explorer where the links, which are in a frame I believe, open a window in that frame, so you can't really see what it's displaying. :? Looks fine in Opera, but not in IE I'm afraid. :( Dan...
