You won't be disappointed with your decision, I have the Sigma and it's my most used lens and I'm always pleased with the results.

I don't doubt the quality of the LX3, but I don't see the point in having a dSLR and then buying additional cameras rather than lenses? I expect the replies to be the same as yesterdays in favour of the 16-45mm lens, which is highly rated by everyone.

A quick googling suggests the LX3 is just over £300 which is quite a lot more than the 16-45mm.

I believe CA can be quite bad wide open, but it's one of the easier things to fix PP.

Are you looking for a P&S for a reason (size?)

I wouldn't take any notice of the review on Photozone (or anywhere else) if I were you. If you do a search on this, or any other Pentax forum and you will find that the 18-250mm is very well thought of. It will have it's limits, but I would say it's a better buy than the Fuji.

That sounds bad The ergonomics of the camera are the most important thing for me (considering any dSLR is a capable tool).

Will just have to wait and see, it may work ...

Ha ha

Yes a TV is a rubbish test but it was the only thing I had used RAW+ on (and if I'm honest I couldn't be bothered to go back outside to take another pic of something :blush. You can still see the effect (affect?) between the 2 images though ....

I've updated Silkypix and it's fine now, though I suspect it was actually because I Silkypix had automatically set the 'Color' setting to 'DNG Standard Color' rather than 'Standard Color'. (I only noticed this after I updated Silkypix!).

I have no doubt that Picasa is a similar user error on my part!

Thanks for the replies

Hi everyone

I've just received my new GX20. It all seems to be going well except for one thing ... When I download images (.dng sRGB) and view them in either Picasa 3 or Silkypix 3.0.16.1 the colours look completely muted and washed out.

I have access to Adobe Photoshop CS3 and everything looks fine there. Also tried changing the GX20 to RAW+ and jpg looks fine.

I changed the settings in my K10D to be .dng sRGB and they display fine? I guess that I need to update the software (though Picasa says it's up to date) as there may be differences in the .dng version?

I know that colour profiles, etc can make a difference but it is totally different on the two machines I have access to at the moment.

Does anyone else have any issue with Picasa or Silkypix with a K20D / GX20?

I can just process my images via Photoshop if required ...

Thanks

Lee

It's good to hear that the bodies did at least exist and someone from this group got one. So the offer was not a mistake. Did they give any indication of a third party supplier and had the box been previously opened?

I'm sure it's direct from play.com, it came with one of their letter headed receipts with their address and VAT number on. I think it's fairly obvious when you place an order with a 3rd party.

Hopefully Shim won't think that I'm trying to rub his nose in it if I tell you my GX20 was waiting to be picked up from the local post office when I got home today.

It wasn't very securely wrapped (just the original box in a large silver special delivery envelope - no bubble wrap or anything :shock but it did arrive safely. I won't get to try it out properly until this weekend but I have fired off a couple of shots to check it's alive .....

I've used Play.com a lot over the past few years so didn't experience the issues Shim has had and always had good service from them

Thanks to Mike-P for posting the original link

I'm typing this on my mobile so i may have easily missed something, but I received an email from play.com this morning confirming despatch of my GX20 (at £299). Will let you all know when it arrives.

That doesn't sound so good. I can't see who the seller is via 'order history' page with nothing to suggest it's not Play.com you're buying from and I don't remember what was on the original play web-page now

It had the Play.com logo, if there had been any mention of resellers I wouldn't have posted the deal.
Hi Mike, yes I noticed that and edited my last post. I'm sure it's a genuine offer - will just have to wait and see if my order gets cancelled.
