I have to admit, reasonably fast primes are the one thing I miss moving over to Pentax. 35mm 1.8, 50 1.8, and 85 1.8 all readily available for very cheap to very reasonable prices. Even stuff like 105mm 1.8 does not cost a fortune. On the other hand to fall below the f2.4 barrier you gotta spend 500+ pounds on FA limiteds.

Of course I did not move over for the fast primes, I knew they did not exist and what exists does serve my very modest needs very very well but I wouldn't complain if I got my extra 1-2/3 stops faster. Having said that my 40mm pancake after having its focus adjusted (it is backfocusing a bit as I found out) is really very good even at 2.8.

Live practically next door and was gonna go next weekend to give another go at the 8-16 so will ask about that. Might instead just drop during lunch time.

So you recon i shouldnt worry too much? What bothers me is if the camera body is causing it especially seen as it is the same amount for two rather different lenses.

Ok I will go there the weekend, the AF Adjust was off actually i put 6-7 to bring the 40mm to normal focusing, which is the amount required at the same distance and at 55mm for the 18-55

Yes I did and although less visible obviously it still does it. What I also noticed though is that it happens with the 18-55 as well..... Could it be the camera that needs alignment and not the lenses?

Would Pentax be happy to do that ? It might be the reason behind the softness on the 8-16 and the 10-24 as well though if it does it by the same amount give or take for 2 lenses already

The focus point was on the R not the D/F... do you think it is backfocusing? Also even if it does not sure I want to use the auto fine tune cause it seems to not have that problem in closer distances. Thanls

And yes I know I need to clean my keyboard
