The point about AF whe using video,.....99 percent of my video capture is in manual focus. In fact auto focus is even more of a nuisance in movie work than with stills.
Some of the stuff I read on the web makes me wonder how on earth us old timers ever managed before the auto-focus curse........

It's unavoidable that still and video will increasingly inhabit the same camera whether we like it or not,...and I'm keeping an open mind at the moment. Currently, there is still NO digital stills system that does not have a 'crippled' video facility. Presumably the camera makers want us to keep buying DSLRS quickly until the cat is finally out of the bag and they feel they can grant us true dual cpability.
This may all change when the Panasonic GH1 arrives as this already is a trully dual and un-crippled system with full incremental zoom, AVCHD in unlimited file size determined only by the media capacity, stereo sound and instant toggle between vid/still etc.

......all makers will likely commonly subscibe to this policy, so not just pentax. Their problem is going to be Panasonic which is not a camera maker and is large and powerful enough to go it's own way. The Panasonic GH1 is going to have full video integration from the outset and unlike k7 will have unlimited file size, full HD spec, and video oriented zoom lens with incremental zoom control,....in short a truly dual purpose camcorder with convincing still AND video capabilities.

Pentax is currently granting a two year warranty in the UK, as it's obliged to by EU law. Would you happen to know if Canada supplied items also have a full two year warranty?
If there is then that's the way to get some fair dealing.......only thing is, one does not want to be sending back and forth across the water. But, that is a whopping great saving and if enough people did it it would sharpen up the attention of pentax UK/dealers for sure.

For me the k7 is much too pricey for what is an amatueur item made by a company who now only makes amateur systems. For just another couple of hundred added to the already staggering £1200, you can have a full frame sytem with access to a complete range of Zeiss glass, rather than the 'what we want to make' list of pentax.
Although the price must drop substantially from £1200 for any real sales, it will still be much more than I can justify for such an item. I can't see it going much below £900 unless the rec3ssion bites a bit harder. I have to get more value for my money these days.
Quite apart from the above, the k7 is not the camera that I am waiting for as i have long hoped for something vastly different to the Canon T90 which I have always hated!...and pentax is dragging it's feet on some real innovation (the hope of which is the only thing kleeping me looking at pentax)

.....Yet again, rippoff Britain!

How can we get some fair dealing here in the UK??????....ANYONE got any ideas?
....Only good thing is that they will have to drop the price for any real sales as this camera is massively overpriced and underspec'ed compared to Nikon and Canon.......

........that means UK price probably about £1000.....!!!!?

Presumably pentax thinks because it now offeres two cameas in one body that it can ask twice the price...!
Twelve hundered quid for an amateur camera that is not even a complete system is WAY over the odds for me!
If I look at my several other areas of interest (read; spending!) twelve hundred smackers buys me much more than another black plastic blob with doubtful features.....
