Agree with Japers that the castle seems a bit cramped stuck out on the extreme left of the composition. The IR effect is great though! I will be trying that myself.

The shot benefits from a post-resizing unsharp-mask, IMO. Resizing images always degrades sharpness, which then needs to be restored when viewed on screen at 1:1.

Thanks for the advise. I like the IR for a couple of reasons, having trouble with colours looking "right" blue too blue etc and it gets rid if the CA, I don't think Warkworth Castle had purple window frames

I'm putting photos on photobucket what should I resize them to first?
Probably need to ask a lot more questions, still reading the manual for the camera on top of ps7

There is a lack of feedback, good or bad. Often we look at photos and then move on. You just need to look at the number of views v the number of replies to see this. I'm as guilty of this as anyone and must do better moving forward
Two things are to be gained by commenting (IMHO).
(a) The poster can learn (or not, as they choose) what people like to see in a shot, and create better shots.
(b) I found that by looking more critically at other's images it assisted in my creating better shots. I assume because it made me look more critically through the viewfinder.
I agree with Father Ted also Blythman's comments.

On a more humorous note I posted a photo (snap) in My Photos about which I can tell all and sundry: "I have a photograph on the forum which has left everyone speechless" BoomBoom Isn't photography fun

So is the general idea: Don't comment on a photograph unless it is to say how it can be improved, because you are some sort of expert.
What if you just like it for some reason maybe not apparent to anyone else, even if it isn't all that "good"

The first one is a lovely image, and the most natural.

I agree, but think they are all very nice.

Thanks for taking the time to leave the useful comments.

The castle isn't far from where I live so will be visiting again.

The sign which says "No Climbing" has been carefully placed to spoil photos Must remember to watch out for things like that.

Will move my position round a bit next time and see if I can get a better aspect, the wall on the right does look odd.

C&C please

Took this with a K7 and after I read about faking IR pics in photoshop I thought I'd have a try. I think it looks spooky.

I forgot about the pigeons. How can I? - there's dozens of them.

They look similar but their calls are different, they fall into two camps :-

"my feeeet hurt - my feeeet hurt - my feeeet hurt"

"look at the ducks - look at the ducks- look at the ducks"

Seems all "my" birds have "Gone for a Burton"

As I am within 1/4 mile of open country I think most of the birds find food out there. They tend to be more prevalent in the winter when the feeders are more used (I never feed in summer)

Surrounded by countryside/farmland here but usually see a bird or two on the fence, this last few months only a few crows on the tv aerial on house opposite. Even the pidgeons which sit on our chimney and we hear cooing have been silent. Perhaps they will reappear in the winter

Have just had a flying visit to the fatball feeders from 1/2 dozen starlings. First birds I've seen in the garden for what seems like months. They seemed to have disappeared even before my neighbour chopped down his apple tree and the other neighbour had his apple tree pruned, or to look at it now, pruined.
Perhaps its time to make a hide by knocking a couple of bricks out of the wash-house wall and installing camera etc.
