Spotted this bonny coloured butterfly at Belsay Hall today and managed a couple of quick snaps before it flew away. There was also a white one flitting about but in never landed anywhere I could see. Not the sharpest but I was so pleased to see one after all the dreadful weather we've had.

K5 sigma 105mm hand held (well that's my excuse)

C&C welcome

Stan,

It seems that some people are posting images to the gallery in order to get constructive feedback rather than because they consider the images to be worthy of "hanging on the gallery wall".

As a consequence, the gallery contains a lot of images that belong properly in the "Your Photos" section, and as a consequence of that, the gallery doesn't attract a lot of visitors.

The most popular image in the gallery at the moment, excluding "glamour" pictures" (most of which are quite appallingly bad), has only attracted 442 views. That's the MOST popular. The average viewing number is 36. Yes, 36!

I would suggest that a massive cull would make the gallery worth visiting. At the moment it would appear to serve little purpose.

I agree George. As long as people can differentiate when a photo is posted in "Your Photos" as to whether it is inviting C&C's (marked as such) or just a general interest photograph of something out the ordinary. Unless of course it's "Open Season" on any image posted in "Your Photos".
On the other hand perhaps the general interest photos should just be linked to in a separate thread altogether.
I shall begin culling my "gallery" immediately

So, instead of posting photos on the pu gallery we should email them to a certain member first and if they reach their standard of photography they will be given approval to be posted on the pu gallery or if I dare say it the PP Gallery otherwise just delete them so as not to offend anyone

I've looked at DrOrloff's photos on three monitors and a netbook using firefox and I couldn't detect any real difference in quality, I'd even cleaned my glasses . On the other hand does every photo need to look razor sharp? I post to the gallery and have had some good advice from some of the better photogrphers on here and try to follow what they say to improve my own efforts. I was pleased that one member even downloaded one of my pics to investigate it, he gave advice about it, which I heeded and the photo was subsequently accepted on the PPG which to me is a plus and what the gallery is all about.

Just a question of bereavement sales. If I suddenly snuff it could liz log on as me (we have no secrets)and list my gear for sale or does she have to become a member herself because then she would be a newby seller or would it be best to advertise my demise in general chat, (I think the pointless thread perhaps ) and ask for advice with pricing etc.

Congrats Stan, lovely set, and love the last image.
for some strange reason it reminds me of Robert De Niro saying "You lookin' at me"! and that is the image title

I've looked at your pics on a fairly low res monitor a Samsung NC10 netbook. When you find a cheap compact that can produce images such as you are showing please point me to the shop so I can buy one too
