My first lesson was on a "Link Trainer" at BSM in Liverpool - then 1 hour in Sefton Park and 2 hours on a private track owned by the school going in and out of cones,learning the pedals etc.
All early lessons done in 105E Ford Anglia but the week before the test I was transferred to Cortina MkI - passed first time.

Lots of practice with Pa in his 2 door Ford Consul Classic helped - as did his words of wisdom which kept me alive a couple of times !

My first car was the Ford Prefect and as HG says - you "learned to drive" properly.No rant HG just common bl**dy sense !!!!!!!

Just back from watching Liam Neeson in Unknown at the cinema - cracking action/mystery film with good script,acting and action - full of popcorn too - yummy.

Daughter Emma wants us to spend week in Cornwall at end of June in cottage near beach - can`t wait - are we there yet ??

However "poor" we were in the past - I always insisted we bought Emma some crayons/paints/pens and paper to stimulate her creativity.
Depending on his age it`s never to soon to start using a camera ( disposable )or learning a musical instrument ( NOT drums )

Hi Steve - bummer about the redundancy - got me twice ......once at age 47 and then age 49.............the worst part was watching the "payout" -about £7000 the first ( and only ) time dwindling as the weeks went on . I did teacher training course and also tried for other types of work.

Most frustrating was being told by a 28 year old that I was "after his job" !!!! Later HR department sent a letter to say I was "over qualified" - more bulls*it but they daren`t say too old..............

Diversify is my suggestion - list all the things you did in your old job and identify what you are good at that was not part of the original job specification..........eg: I was a Maitre Chef de Cuisine but I also did Training,Health & Safety,Fire Officer,Hygiene,Stores Control,Menu Planning,Budgetry Control,Sales & PR - surprised I ever had a pan in my hand !!!
