For sale is the Samsung-branded equivalent of the AF-540FGZ. This has not seen a lot of use and is in mint condition (as can be seen by the photos). Reason for sale is I have downgraded to the 360. Note that all packaging is pristine and the stand/case (which I believe is better than the Pentax) are included. Price is £250 including UK Special Delivery, payment by Bank Transfer or PayPal Gift. Thanks for looking.

I agree entirely. The industry is slowly waking up to the modern age, and Pentax is in the front here with the TAv and Sv modes. The high ISO capabilities and high pixel counts really ought to start freeing us from the traditional issues of speed and need for large apertures (other than for dof control). I often use TAv when photographing the kids as I want to ensure that speed stays above 250 (they run around a lot), whilst I stay between 3.5-11. Let the camera adjust ISO, no problem!

I also use the DA40 as a very compact walk-around, knowing that I can happily crop by 50% and get a good telephoto of 80mm for most of my shots which will be viewed on computer screen/6x4. Same reason I haven't spent money on a good 200+ when I can crop the 50-135mm.

The stand can be had for £11 from SRS (free post to forum members). The swivelling head IS more of an issue, but you pay a lot money to get that (and the extra reach of course.) I find that using the flash off-camera wirelessly (on the stand you've just bought ) gets around the swivel problem. Really, for £99 including delivery, it's a no-brainer.

Sounds sensible. Suggest you start it as a new thread in the general chat section?

Cheers - would that be Shepherd Neame calling?

Why not let John word the question (if he's prepared to of course)? He's a reasonable chap and obviously anything that was biased would be obvious for anyone to see (and comment on!) Then, the result would have to stand.

I got mine from Dixons, if the other sources dry up (still part of the same group I think.) BTW this looks like very old stock as the manual refers to *ist D as the latest camera in the wireless section

Gwyn - you can have layer masks in PSE6! I have downloaded an open source action from one of the community boards, which you run as an effect on the layer and then you have a normal layer mask.

Cheers

I also use LR + PSE. Save yourself some money, buy a legit copy of version 6 for around £15, then download the action to allow layer masks (the only useful thing from V9 missing - google it!) That's all you need!
