Gary - do you have the latest firmware? It addressed the poor AF performance.

Indeed. It now seems obvious, but the point about keeping the skys under control is good. Normally we're taught to expose to the right, because of the greater detail, but I suppose it's better to have to lift under-exposed scenery and have non-blown skys? I really thought these were HDR (in a good way ) when I first saw them.Thanks for the details of your processing David, it's good to know the techniques used on photos that stand out

Can't really comment on your first two points, but your song titles do tend to give away your age (U2, Smiths, Nirvana, Coc's, New Order...) Personally I would not use these titles and would just give them numbers or codes, (or something from Dubstep, if you really need songs :twisted

I'm starting to regret selling it to you now! Good to see it's bringing so much joy though. I certainly recommend the 40xs, I could slip it inside a small bag and then in a coat pocket. I think SRS were selling them for £149 a few weeks back, so they may appear again?

Best thing is to download and try. But if you can get a free PSE (which I assume is at least the latest or previous version) then why not use that for a few months, get to know it and understand what you like/don't like and then download the 30 day trials that all publishers provide. You might be happy just with PSE!
Personally I swear by lightroom and have PSE for the 5% of occasions when I want to do more involved manipulation.
