Thank you Peter and Mark for your helpful comments, yes it was windy and foggy so not the best of days.

The lens has been in my kit for some while but I thought I could only use it for shot of a room etc, then I noticed people used them for scenic shots, so though I would have a go.

It is a Sigma 24mm called super wide and 2.8 - I was shooting in AV with AF but did not know if I should pick up the focus at the extreme edge of the shot or some where in between, guess it depends on what you wish to achieve and at the moment I don't know.

These are from the second batch I took yesterday, still foggy and a flat grey sky, not a new topic but I like these, criticism welcome and encouraged.

Let my hair down with this one.

Acommon subject but new to me and I like them but I know it could be a lot better.

Thanks for your help.

Took the camera out yesterday with the 24mm lens to see if I could find out how to use this glass to its best advantage.

This is the first time I have used this lens outside having only used it for the odd (often very odd) interior shot – I have put them on here because I need help and suggestions.

The sky was flat grey and it was foggy so I know about that but I need advice on almost everything else I am not even sure where I should focus – so as much comment as you can please.

First batch are shots of a field, all edited to some extent to attempt to improve the sky.

Foggy field in B & W

If you can help me to come to terms with this type of lens and shot I would be grateful, thanks.

What I need is a shooting stick, no not that sort of shooting, our sort of shooting. A seat combined with a tripod would be ideal and if it could also be used to aid walking even better.

As someone who often uses her Monopod as a walking stick a tri with a seat would be at the top of my to buy list, and if you could actually sit whilst taking a shot so much the better.

Once found myself, in Sicily, being ushered out of the queue for the Ladies loo and the disabled toilet being unlocked for me because I was leaning on my Monopod a bit heavy, so in case the tripod does not work so well as a queue jumping tool may be a built in commode as well, no, being silly but a photographers shooting stick would be great, or does one exist already? If so directions please.

Think the zoom ring on the 50-500 is best described as firm enough to stop creep but easy enough to move when required and yes, the tripod collar is in the way and you have to use a very wrist high action to adjust it, bit like the finger sticking out when drinking from a tea cup.

You are right, someone feeling ignored perhaps, we must have cured that anyway 7 pages of attention can't be bad.

And why should you if it grabs your attention then shoot it, we all have our own special hang ups mine is rotting wood and decaying metal, must say something about me that I would rather not think about.

Is it? The trees and their reflection look fine to me, would leave it if it were mine as I would have to guess which way it was out but then I would know if it were mine as they are always leaning to the left.

As far as the shot is concerned it is a good shot of a pretty place with no particular focal point, pretty but not grabbing. I think there is room for this sort of shot to relax with, do we need to be exited all the time.

Am interested, that if not told, I would not have thought it was a HDR this is the second shot of John's that I have found the HDR to be improving (Church) or unnoticeable (this) when generally I find them fake looking and on landscape horrid.

Wireless, not sure about that just gone back to a wired network at home as it seems impossible to keep others out of the system even if they don't want to be there, imagine the copyright problems someone could have published your work before you got home
