I really don't know why so many people seemingly struggle with the card removal!
It's so simple I can do it with my eyes closed. You must be approaching it from the wrong side, angle or something.

A lesson in card removal...
Put the camera on its side with the SD card door facing up, place the thumb of your right hand underneath the door and slide the door towards you with your forefinger and release. The door pops up to beyond 90 degrees.
With the tip of your forefinger press the SD card firmly down and release: the card will rise a full 8mm from the slot.
Place the same forefinger tip behind the card and with your thumb against the opposite side of the card, pull the card from the slot.
I hope this clears up the difficulty.

This process is the same for the K-7, K-5, K-5ii & K-5iis. I cannot vouch for older models as I have no experience of these.

and that just having a newer model camera would not make a significant difference, or at least would probably not be worth the money for me at least. That doesn't mean a newer camera would not be worth it for some shots though.
Sorry, I utterly disagree, I went from the 7 to the 5iis and they are leagues apart, the difference in sharpness alone made the transition more than worth the money. Until you compare the two with your own lenses you will not and cannot imagine the difference, take it from me it is huge.
I've recently been using the standard K-5 and there is a marked improvement in IQ with the iis, but one I wouldn't upgrade for if I'd had the 5 (although the AF acuracy and speed, if you need it, are worth considering). However the 7 and the 5iis are so far apart it is astonishing. Simply put - cleaner, sharper photos that when compared to the 7 make it now difficult for me to use the 7 at all. It sits on my shelf gathering dust

I had a friend who bought a Canon camcorder from what looked like a reputable shop in Tenerife. A few months after he got home it failed so he took it to Canon to have it repaired, they said...
It's not a Canon! There was nothing of the insides that the guy recognised.
Be careful

Hello
does any one know of any company which repairs Pentax cameras apart from Johnsons.

My K5 has a fault whereby when the shutter is pressed, the mirror moves up and stays there. There is a continuous whirring sound whilst the mirror is raised. It will only return to normal when the battery is removed and reinserted.

I'm not happy with Johnsons as the last time I sent the K5 in for repair with a shutter fault, it was dispatched by post.in its original packaging, complete with white shutter box disc and returned in a filthy state with no white disc and the only packing being bubblewrap.

Derek
I've just sent my iis back for a similar problem to Johnsons via SRS under warranty and I've received notification that a replacement camera is on its way.

Sport too, particularly with stuff coming towards you at pace.
I tend to use continuous auto focusing and burst shoot, take 5-6 shots and hope I have a couple in focus. I've done OK so far but do lose a lot that are OOF.
Still sticking with Pentax though because when the heavens open I'm still there trying to get a shot while the canikons are running for cover.

Which comes back to point I made earlier.... if its so easy to sort out in software, why would Pentax go to all this trouble of creating this new revolutionary technololgy if they could have just provided an update to PDCU??
Isn't moire famously hard to get rid of in software?
Lightroom 4 onwards has a moire reduction parameter for it's local adjustment brush. I haven''tried it on any moire myself, but other have said it works fine. The benefit of local adjustment is you only need to apply the moire filter over the affected area of the image
Lightroom will get rid of the colour that is produced but not the odd pattern. Apparently you can do it in PS but it is a long and complicated process.
