All of those on the BBC site are beautifully shot and you can see in them which subjects are more into it at the time. Not sure the Thandie Newton image worked so well but it's still fantastically well made.

We had a great independent camera shop until Jessops came to town, now we don't even have Jessops. That's partly my fault though since I never shopped there, I prefer to deal with staff who know what they are talking about and don't try to force overpriced accessories on me.

I can get next day delivery from SRS even way up here in the Highlands if the gods are smiling. They know what they're talking about, have good prices and are efficient at things like dispatching.

The shot works really well in black and white. You just know he's thinking "hhmmm lunch, if only I could be bothered"

It has a darned sight better high iso performance than my K-r had. I still don't understand why there's no lower iso setting than 100 though.

If your computer is quick enough that processing a large file is no bother then save the cropping for almost last (I'm told it's better to leave any sharpening till the very end).

I've got a 1000mm Russian tank of a mirror lens I want to try on this subject too, it's been softer than very soft thing on earlier bodies but coped quite well on the moon the other night
