Impressive images, even if I'm not really one for milky way shots. The one I really like is the Plough (la Grande Ourse, in french) on the Newton observatory - great balance in the composition (thanks to the single star on the left carrying enough heft to even things out), fab lighting and colours, and perfect meeting of the constellation and the observatory. Lovely.

'Rails' for me too, Gary, and I also appreciate the last photo's composition and subdued colours. Lovely processing all around.

Thanks David and Gary. Gary, yes that has indeed been suggested to me, and I concur.

Thank you all for commenting.
John, yes they could indeed be planets, I hadn't seen that, so thanks (someone today told me some of them looked like cakes baking in the oven).
Nigel, it does work well, or better, thanks for the tip:

Bill, they are definitely the work of tree roots (and the morning light was helpful too, might I add). Will be keeping an eye out for more.
Agreed, Ben, lack of scale promotes mystery, which is always a good thing, for me.
Cheers Gareth, hopefully they will end up hanging somewhere.

Just having a bit of fun while waiting for the rest of the family on an empty parking lot in Montpellier. I might just go about collecting more of these, as I do think there must be interesting ways of approaching them. Anyways, a good year to you all!

I seem to have missed most of these, Nigel (or perhaps you hadn't posted them all in the course of the past year). The abstract and minimalist images are quite compelling. The cliff shot is particularly intriguing until you figure it out, and then it just stays beautifully strange. Great stuff!

Subtlety is the key here, nice work.

4 draws me in more than the others here, perhaps because there is something more organic than dramatic to it (to my eyes at least). Nice one.

That first shot is a radiant portrait, quite a glow emanating from your subject.
