Asphalt cracks

Just having a bit of fun while waiting for the rest of the family on an empty parking lot in Montpellier. I might just go about collecting more of these, as I do think there must be interesting ways of approaching them. Anyways, a good year to you all!

They look like satellite images of a distant planet!

Well composed and developed studies, certainly worthy of further study. I also think No.1 works well as a vertical image, the crack coming from the top.

Great set Serge... really well seen and a great idea... even though it's asphalt, they fell quite organic... plenty of echoes of the natural world to these (presumably because at least some of them are caused by tree roots underneath?)... almost like a plaster cast... good luck with the series... plenty to explore I reckon...

The lack of scale is what makes them for me. They could be mm, cm or furlongs wide! Very nice.

I can see these as a set hanging on a wall of a waiting room or coffee shop. Really well seen and processed

John, yes they could indeed be planets, I hadn't seen that, so thanks (someone today told me some of them looked like cakes baking in the oven).

Bill, they are definitely the work of tree roots (and the morning light was helpful too, might I add). Will be keeping an eye out for more.
Agreed, Ben, lack of scale promotes mystery, which is always a good thing, for me.

A different approach of subject matter that works. If you mentally remove the grass/plant debris from image #4, then image #3 & #4 also could have been mono images of the top of a cake?
