Image 1 because the power lines have been removed. The image looks better without them.

My new way is: I burn images from the cards onto CD or DVD first.

Then everything is simply imported into Extensis Portfolio, and this then creates previews and all images are in separate databases. So if I go to a zoo for example, then the result will be 1 CD/DVD and one Extensis database. The database will contain, the date of the shoot, location, and all the images will have their original names with descriptions, exif etc added.

The originals remain on the CD/DVD.

I used to keep all images on the Hard drive, but that gets a pain, as the number of images rises!

I am investigating Silkypix Studio for my graphic application, but for storage as mentioned above, I burn all images to CD/DVD, and import to Portfolio.

Simple websites and Browser consistency.

Oh I could not agree more, with these sentiments. My first attempts at a website with templates, were driving me nuts, as I added photos, the slower and slower it got.

So I went to "school" at home, learnt some CSS and HTML, and redesigned and wrote the most of the site in an HTML editor.

Result speed, no stupid pointless intros, graphics just for the sake of them and no problems that I am aware of with the main browsers including "the one" I never use.

So I think that consistency does matter, good code and simplicity are what make great websites from my point of view.

My pet hate is sites that use all the latest flash, bang and wallop and cannot even load a page within what I consider a reasonable amount of time. Then when it loads, it is a mess. Crap colours, text in colours that are hard to read and so on - it is all there on the web, the good, bad and ugly.

Hi Pete,

I agree on Safari, Camino and Firefox works a treat, simple and fast.

On your HOME, Welcome page - you need to respell challanges - it should be challenges.

Also on your CONTACT US, there is no need to display your email address, so I would just replace that with the title email.

Other than that. All looks good. I like the simple menu.

Yes the portrait is absoluetly fantastic, the facial expression and pose is perfect, but the border spoils it for me.

Actually Don that is a great point. When things don't go the way one wants, there is always the friendly local Apple shop. And mainly they are staffed by people who know what they are talking about and answers are far more easily quickly obtainable.

Yep, the pile them high and sell/source cheapest parts, is not the best buy. One can do much better even with a Windows machine, by building the PC oneself.

That is my point. I moved to a "slower" system, at vastly reduced cost. Whilst I do see a slower graphics app performance, as I said it never fails AND I can search the web, receive and send mail and have several other graphical or terminal tasks working at the same time.

I could not before with my PC, do these same tasks and not see Windows slow or crash.

You would indeed need to shell out a lot of cash to replicate your performance. My point is for a lot of people what I am using is more than good enough.

One other thing with Linux and OS X, no viruses. We have a lot less hassle and crap to deal with!

It is the art of the possible, using the least cash. Mine might be slow, but it always works and cost very little, around 300 quid. Proving the lie is untrue about not being able to afford a Mac. However, cost of new software especially Photoshop etc is a point to be aware of. Although if one is happy with Elements then it is not expensive. Also Gimp is freely available along with other software.
