If it is of any interest, the reference in the Pentax book is:

"At the beginning of the Eighties, Asahi Optical brought out their fastest 35mm lens. This consisted of 10 elements in eight groups and weighed 420g. It only appeared briefly in the catalogues".

I am not sure I have ever seen an reference in the catalogues I have from that time. The price and weight - 420g for a 35mm lens - probably had something to do with limited sales.

I came across a reference to the lens in one of the Pentax books "Pentax SLRs 1952-1989". I had never even heard of it. any info out there?

The lens is a a Vivitar 2xmacro converter which has variable magnification up to 1:1 depending on the lens used. It works well and is worth saving I think

I have also have a Vivitar 28mm f2.0 which needs the same treatment. It should be a good standard lens on the istDS.

I know this has been covered elsewhare, but I would be grateful if someone knows if it is the Ricoh pin or the hole in the mount that fouls the af mechanism on Pentax AF SLRs. I have successfully removed the pin from a teleconverter but wanted to check, just in case.......
