Very nice indeed but way out of my price league. I hope it goes to a good home.

Very nice. The "Rain imminent" shot looks very sinister. Works well.

istDS

On manual focus days:

24/2.8 SMCA

35/2.8 SMCA

50/1.7SMCA

35-105SMCA

Plus the odd 50/1.4 Super Tak or 85/2 SMC-M.

On AF days:

24/2.8 Sigma (amazing flare!)

35/2 FA - very nice indeed

50/1.7F

28-105FA Powerzoom - not sure why, but I really like this lens

I tend to like smaller lenses and rarely change them once they are on the camera (hence why I bought a cheap, second istDS body).

I also got an SMC-K 50/1.2 a couple of years ago for £50 with an MX. The lens was junk - Michael Spencer at Camera Repairer did his stuff for £25 and I still have the lens, slightly rough loooking but very usable.

Strangely the 50/1.2 does not usually go for more than £150, possibly because it has razor thin dof at f1.2 and does not work perfectly with the digital SLRs?

I got my SMC-A 50/1.4 last week - for £25 and a bit : )

I had rung a well known online retailer to ask about one listed on their website for £75. They had sold it but had just received a Pentax kit, which they had just unpacked. The 50/1.4 had a ding in the filter ring. I haggled a little, and agreed £25. The then offered to have the filter ring for £10! So £35 for a perfect 50/1.4A.

Try a Pentax LX screen. Some of them are compatible with MX and LX cameras and seem to come up for sale more often. If you are stilll struggling, let me know....

I usually prefocus and switch off AF. With a smaller aperture, DOF can take care of some focusing error.

The copipod was specifically designed to keep the camera square to a flat surface and should be ideal for your purposes. I'll check the area under the legs to see if this works.

I woudl suggest a 50mm f1.7 as a suitable lens though it might be a bit too long for the istDS at those distances. Someone else might be able to comment on this.

You are welcome to borrow my copipod if it's a short term project. I think I only have the 49mm adaptor for it.

It's not just the injection moulding cost. I have a Canon G1 (v old but still works). The screen is clad in metal and is full tiltable and rotatable. The ball joint feels very robust and I imaging the electrical connectors from screen to body are equally so. In addition, the screen image flips when the screen is rotated, meaning additional software and orinetation sensors.

It is probably also difficult to weather seal a rotating screen.]

I would guesstimate the rotating screen would add £50 - £100.
