Didn't need it, but couldn't resist it !!!!

The K-50mm f1:1.2 on my DS, taken with my K10D + A-50mm f1:1.4

Seems in good condition, recently serviced and cleaned to remove internal dust, don't want to say what I paid for it, ( duh ), but what would you say I should have paid ???

D-of-F at f1.2 is as thin as a razor-blade,

But it does improve at f8.0, ( think I may have found what happened to the "Village People", well at least one of them ??? ).

Stopped down it will make a good portrait lens.

I have just dug out my A-50 f1.4 to try a few on my new K20D

I had the A series one but only kept it for a few weeks. I couldn't see any use for it so sold it for about 150, it was mint.

I wish I'd kept it a bit longer to get a decent price, that was 2 years ago.

Just to up-date you, I paid 125 for the lens, and saw one like it on 'ebad' recently for 275. So I'm quite happy. I have wanted one of these for a while so I might have been tempted to go to 275, but then again maybe not.

I love it, here's tonight's dinner at f1:1.2 on the K10D

I couldn't believe my luck !
In 1998 I exchanged my 15-year-old Chinon 50mm KA fit 1.7 for a Pentax SMC 50mm KA 1.4 in mint condition at a now-defunct camera exchange shop. The Pentax was for sale at 25 (TWENTY-FIVE POUNDS ! ! !) and I got 15 for the Chinon, so it only cost me
A TENNER !!!
I'm sure they missed a nought off the end of the 25. No wonder the shop shut down !!
K10D. Tamron 18-250 F3.5/6.3, P-KA 50mm 1.4, Takumar-A 28-80mm F3.5/4.5, Vivitar 70-300mm F4.2/5.8, Teleplus MC-7 2x converter and some Cokin stuff. Also Optio E80(coz I've got big fingers!), Pentax A3 and Chinon CP-7m.

For an SMC-A 50/1.4?

A tenner would be good these days, and on ebay your A50/1.4 could well go for 100, but not 250, that's more like the price for an A50/1.2 .

See the "Used Lens price Guide" on www.mflenses.com.

For example, searching for SMC 50 gives:

Pentax SMC 50mm f1.4 A-Series lens. GBP 87.00
Pentax SMC 50 1:1.2 Asahi opt. Lichtriese Neuwertig EUR 242.66 ASHAI Pentax SMC 50mm f1.2 Fast Prime Lens MINT 1.2 GBP 117.00
PENTAX SMC 50mm 1:1.2 f1.2 fast prime lens GBP 139.00

The last three, I guess, are K rather than A.

Searching for Pentax 50 gives:

Pentax 50mm 1:1.2 Lens - Fast GBP 127.00
Pentax 50mm 1:1.2 Lens - Fast GBP 320.00
SMC Pentax 50mm f/1.2 A 1:1.2 lens USD 440.00

The first ione is perhaps a K, and the second is an A, perhaps?

That suggests, about $440 (220) to 320 for A50/1.2 and about 90 quid for an A50/1.4.

Well it was 10 years ago and it was still a bargain.

I got my SMC-A 50/1.4 last week - for 25 and a bit : )

I had rung a well known online retailer to ask about one listed on their website for 75. They had sold it but had just received a Pentax kit, which they had just unpacked. The 50/1.4 had a ding in the filter ring. I haggled a little, and agreed 25. The then offered to have the filter ring for 10! So 35 for a perfect 50/1.4A.

I also got an SMC-K 50/1.2 a couple of years ago for 50 with an MX. The lens was junk - Michael Spencer at Camera Repairer did his stuff for 25 and I still have the lens, slightly rough loooking but very usable.

Strangely the 50/1.2 does not usually go for more than 150, possibly because it has razor thin dof at f1.2 and does not work perfectly with the digital SLRs?

hmm that 1.2 looks very, very nice...
the closest thing I have is the A50 1.7 which I allso love...

Oh my... I just invested in the K20 so no new glass for a while for unless I win the jackpot...
