That's the lens I was after for a long time. It's arguably the best macro lens ever produced by any manufacturer.

I settled for the Sigma 180mm 1:3.5 EX DG Macro as it was the nearest I could find to 200mm. It also serves very well as a normal mid-range AF telephoto.

Very nice indeed but way out of my price league. I hope it goes to a good home.

Now THIS looks rather nice.
Anybody got one or had the use of one?

Can't afford it mores the pity, but then Xmas is just around the corner.

It has gone from ebay... what was the lens in the OP?

Thanks, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Just been looking at the FA*200 f/4. Strikes me as odd that someone would buy that lens at £1,800+ rather than the DA* 200 f/2.8 for £650. I guess the FA can be used with film cameras too, but is there any other reason to spend £1,200 more?

I presume we are talking about the 200mm macro lens, which is a very fine beast indeed. And very expensive.
Best regards, John

Some say the very best macro lens ever made. By anybody. Ever.

I'd love a 200mm lens that goes to 1:1 but at those prices it's unlikely I'll ever get the chance...

I could not help noticing this in the description

One of my lovely SMC lens, however, I switched my interest to collect fountain pens already.
I wonder if he would consider doing a swap with my old inky Parker pen that I used at school 30 years ago?
