The f1.4 has great quality that is much admired on the forum, but is quite rare/expensive - likely over £100 in the UK. Out of focus rendition is excellent. The f1.7 version is very similar, arguably sharper wide open and has a flatter focusing field and better close focusing. Price in the UK is perhaps £50 or maybe less.

Does anyone know of a modern case that suits the MX? Ideally one with a velcro belt loop attached (like the Lowepro "sliplock" kit). The M series look a bit lost in a modern camera pouch!
The Zhou cases for Bessa R series cameras work quite nicely on the MX. You need one of the early ones which had ver slightly different dimensions.

It looks like this one:

I'm pretty sure there was an ERC for the MX plus 40, or rather a replacement front, but I have never seen one.
There was an ERC for the ME-S + 40mm, which had a very short "snout" on the front piece.

This front piece also fits the bottom piece of the MX ERC.

I used to use the two together to house my MX & M40, which was a great combination.
The only way you could tell they weren't designed for each other is because the ME-S part had a purple lining and the MX part a black lining.

Unfortunately, I disposed of the case a while ago as it was somewhat worse for wear, otherwise I could have provided a picture

I have one of these somewhere. I cannot remember if it is for the MES or MX.

Photo Express are good - cheap mail order service: £3.50 for process and scan to disc.

Could you remind me which ones fit which cameras. I think one allows the us of onboard flash and one does not.

The AF200T is good. Auto and manual modes down to 1/8 power.

I like the P30 - robust and durable, nice finder, very usable camera. I throw one into my work bag with a 40/2.8.

The AA battery holder is worth seeking out.

I have both lenses. 135mm A lens is ok to good, the 100mm is fantastic. Neither is a macro lens unless mounted on a bellows or extension tube.

Look for something like a Pentax P30 or P50 with a Tamron Adaptall zoom. They are often of the same vintage and the mount required to use the P30/P50 functions was the PKA. Sellers often do not properly describe what they are selling.
