Had a quick drive down to Conwy this evening to try & catch the summer heather on Conwy Mountain, it was absolutely stunning...as has been the case most of this summer though, the lighting wasn't ideal, took some shots anyway

I used to own the Sigma 10-20 & found a polariser to be useful, as mentioned already it can produce strange effects but if used carefully it's well worth getting one

To be fair to Shaky his original post was simply a link to a factual Reuters article, which happens to be a little negative...

As we all know Pentax is a pretty small player in the digital camera market and it's clear from the Hoya statement that it needs investment/support to enhance its standing - I'd be very suprised if someone isn't interested, Konica Minolta lives on in the guise of Sony so the future of Pentax may perhaps follow a similar path

I agree with Mike P about sourcing...I owned the 10-20 until recently, I went through 3 copies to find a good one !!

Just a quick question on the "verticals"...

I had to do some perspective correction in Photoshop, does it look about right or are the towers slightly wider at the top then they probably should be - I think they might be ?

thanks

Having looked at the shot again I've tweaked the tower a little to bring out a bit more detail

I love the picture! The clouds are almost like painted! Is it HDR?
No HDR, just a little contrast tweak, also used the new gradient tool in ACR to darken the clouds slightly

thanks

I have the Pentax 17-70 / 55-300 lenses and highly rate both...the Sigma 17-70 is a good alternative to the Pentax too and quite a bit cheaper, the contrast/colour are better on the Pentax though, SDM is nice too

Thanks for the generous comments everyone although the credit for this one has to go to the weather !!

I used a polariser but the rest was pretty standard stuff....

1/250s, F11, Iso 200

I think some credit has to go to the Pentax 17-70 lens I used too, I'm not 100% sure that my previous Sigma would have produced such good colour/contrast

I've just returned from a week in the Cotswolds and only managed one real landscape shot...unfortunately, as nice as the villages are, I couldn't really find much inspiration for landscape shots

This is Broadway Tower, all C&C welcome
