As cost is a consideration I'm suprised no-one mentions the K20D, certainly the equal of the K7 for IQ, has weather sealing and is much cheaper?

I'm certainly in no rush to upgrade mine, great camera

[edit] Just noticed SRS have the equivalent Samsung GX20 for £389 with 6months warranty - plenty of cash left then for a nice lens upgrade !!

So we are all thinking the same way. A day on the hills does need a proper rucsack.

The gear I need to keep dry goes in drysacs - they come in all shapes and sizes.

What do you put the camera in: I have plenty of pouches, but the camera bags are all bulkly.

I use a tight fitting camera bag which I bought from Jessops, fits neatly into my rucksac...

If you want something a bit more compact though have a look at the Optec neoprene pouch, heres a link..

Hi,

I have the K20D & always take it hiking...my recommendations would be to buy a new rucksac, a proper hiking one not a camera one, the camera ones just don't cut it for me when hiking, even though I use one the rest of the time (no offence Steffan) rather than a new camera - I now use an Osprey Atmos which truly makes a big difference regarding load bearing, if you don't own one already it will certainly make more difference than swapping DSLR bodies !!

The Pentax 14mm F2.8 is a lens I'm considering myself...minimal distortion and nice sharpness, I know a couple of photographers who are very impressed by it.
The problem is deciding whether 14mm is that much more useful than the 17mm of the DA17-70. Personally I'd much rather have the Pentax DA 12-24 over them all but current prices are just too much for me as I can't see myself using it all that often...SRS currently have a few for sale but £599 seems a bit steep for a 2nd hand one.

Just message me with your financial demands if anyone has one they want to part with.

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, sorry about that, I sold it on Ebay last week...keep your eyes on the forum though as they do seem to appear regularly of late

This thread shows what a great forum we have...lens advice and English grammar lessons

As you mention Steffan it relates to complete, as I guess you know all English words ending in "ment" are actually French...(compléter, complément)as are most of our "long" words - despite the fact that apparently no one wants to learn French anymore in this country (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-11086381) we all speak it anyway although not as well as you speak English, despite the odd minor faux pas !!

Unfortunately I'm going against the grain a little again

I owned the Sigma 10-20 but didn't find it to my liking for landscape use so have now sold it. If you haven't already I'd suggest trying one out before buying just to be sure it suits your "style". I much prefer the Pentax DA 17-70

Just to add positive feedback - I recently bought the DA 40mm from "Muggins", arrived quickly and well packaged !!

Enjoy your move....personally I have no sentimentality with technology and just use what I find suits my needs, Pentax does that at the moment but if I found a system I preferred more I wouldn't hesitate to follow your lead
