I've got a Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 AF Di LD (also has macro feature) and have been exploring a tele-converter ie 1.4 or 2.0 but I cannot find a tamron tele-converter (i've seen sigma tc's). Does anyon use a tele-converter they have been using succesfully with the Tamron 70-300 lens and what are the views of this as an alternative to buying a dedicated lens such as the 50-500 or 150-500 sigma lenses?

any help or tips would be appreciated

thanks for the update,

I agree it should be a standard inclusion when you spend £500-£1000 on a new camera....

Aero is right about the use of the filters, but before you rush out and get the cokin P series you need to be aware that at 10mm your lens will pick up the filter holder potentially ruining your shot (as the lens is so wide!) - this means you'll end up cropping the image which defeats the purpose of having a wide angle, so do some research on your options - which I think is cokin z (?) or lee, the later being very very expensive

I have a mixture of ND, ND grads (hard and soft) and a polariser..... the only alternative is to multi bracket and merge your shots, but this is fiddly and takes time in front of the PC

try getting a book out of the library on filters or I can recommend the digital photographers guide to filters by Ross Hoddinott which you can get for a £10 on amazon

Great lens, I've recently bought one too, although I had to change my filter set up as at 10mm I had v'g (cokin P series - now using Lee). Are you using a filter system, did you use it for this shot - if it metered of the sky the foreground would be darker - I think (but that's probably what makes the B&W image work)?

I agree the B&W image is a great improvement and you do need to experiment with vantage points to maximise the impact of the lens both for landscape and portraits etc.

looking forward to seeing some more results soon

I've tried to take pictures of myself but my arms simply aren't long enough.... I've got plenty of the ground and my left foot mind.... maybe this should be a future competition theme..... self portrait avatars
