No sadness there, Stuey. I'thought everybody knew that?

Thanks for the kind words, all. I've awoken to notice that the horizon in #2 is on the slant - one of my pet hates. Suspect I was looking at the wrong line when I first edited it with tired eyes - either that or I'd had too much Sauvignon Blanc and genuinely thought it was straight. Now tweaked, albeit too late to replace the original in the post above.

And for the record, the Impreza spun seconds after #4 was taken - and the Land Rover clobbered it. Suspect the Subaru driver might have been watching mirror rather than road, for some reason. The accident happened too close to me for the 300mm to be any use. One vehicle was able to continue subsequently and one wasn't. No prizes for guessing which was which. Here's a shot of the survivor being bullied back into shape before rejoining (K-5 IIs, Tamron 17-50)...

First time I've attended this event - great atmosphere and I found a terrific hotel that charged £25 per night including breakfast and unlimited wifi. Photographic opportunities limited because my Punto lapsed onto three cylinders, so I had to wait for the AA to fit a replacement coil before being able to follow the action, but it was well worth the 510-mile round trip...

Great shots, Gary. I'm lucky enough to have stayed in the Perth region a few times - usually to the north of the city, around Cottesloe - and spectacular Indian Ocean sunsets are one of the things that stick most in the mind. I haven't been for 10 years or so, though, and was there only during my stupid, 24-year exile from photography, so I didn't have a camera...

There are return flights from London-Perth for little more than £600 at present. It might almost be worth it, if you hadn't already raided the treasure chest. All absolute steals, obviously, but the 18-35 and Sigma 1.4 TC look particularly tempting.

A great result, Gary, and I look forward to seeing how the new toys perform.

I see what you mean, Nigel, but it was effectively a two-tone swan. Parts of its head and neck were a bit grubby, because it had been snuffling around in a silt trap a few minutes beforehand. There is also a fair bit of shadow around the top of its head, courtesy of an adjacent tree.

I'm quite happy with it as is, but will have a play to see what happens.

Can't add much to the previous compliments, David: October's Victoriana illustrates a great eye for a photograph... and all 12 are great photographs.

It's hard trying to keep up with the '12s' that have sprouted up over the past day or three.

A very nice set, David - diverse and stylish in equal measure.

Some very nice stuff there, Bill - love the silhouetted yacht in particular. The last shot reminds me that I haven't seen proper snow for almost two years: I know some people hate it, but I relish the stuff...
