I bought my first pentax an mz5 in 2004 becuase it was at the right price in the local freeads and i knew nothing about photography except that a guy in work who used to be a pro photographer had one and recommended the brand. Over the next couple of years I trawled ebay and picked up some good "m" and "A" lenses when they were cheap - i then logically bought a K10d when i came in to a small amount of unexpected money and upgraded to a K7 to mistakenly improve my photography.

I use pentax because of the backward lens compatibility and the weather sealing plus i have a good selection of lenses however i am finding that i especially like landscape photography and would like a full frame camera so i can use smaller apatures before diffraction becomes an issue but its unlikly i will have enough money and i love the k7 plus i am knowhere near the capibilities of the camera - if i had the money i would get a canon full frame alongside the pentax but its unlikley to happen any time soon - I think a lot of people switch because they think it will improve thier photography - advertising and marketing make a big differance

Hi

I know this is probobly open to many differant opinions but I was wandering what people regard as the best workflow routine as I have a number of raw files in dng format at 400 iso that could do with some noise reduction and sharpening plus cropping I have the pentax software for my K7 and adobe photoshop cs2 but not any noise reduction software at present so recommendations on the best and simplest to use as well would be good thanks

I have always been advised against using brush type sensor cleaners by my local Camera shop as they can shed bristles which can get lodged within the Camera. I have used the Pentax Sensor Cleaning kit successfully for 3 years now and have used it on my K7 several times. Available from SRS.

Regards - Pete.
I use the Pentax cleaning Kit as well and can recommend it - it might seem expensive but it lasts a long time

Well I got the camera and its ok - It had a sticky mirror on the lower shutter speeds which was a fairly simple fix - I removed the bottom cover and saw that the mirror release mechanism/rod which sits on a small lugg was a bit mucky so I cleaned the lug with a cotton wool bud and its fine now - the battery in it was the wrong one so I replaced it and the meter seems to read ok - its about one stop differant from an old jessops D3 hand held meter I have so I am happy with that. The mirror seals are shot so I have ordered the seal kit from interseal in the USA for around £6 .I paid £10 and have spent a further £12 on bits so £22 so far - not bad considering everything else seems to work ok.
