That's useful to know. Any thoughts on the best / easiest software to use?

Does anyone use the tehnique of swivelling the camera, usually on a tripod, taking two images, and then stitching them together in software? If yes, comments on the results would be appreciated.

Inspired by another thread, and a coincidental look at a 10 to something Pentax fisheye today, I have to ask, why a fisheye? The barrel distortion seems an irritant to me, and in my eye contributes nothing positive.

I have a kenko 1.5x I no longer use. I was going to put it on E-Bay but if anyones interested let me know.
The AF works on SDM lenses (I've used it with my DA* 300mm F4).
If you're wondering why I'm selling, it's because I have the Pentax 1.7x AF converter and I find the longer reach better for wildlife shots.
I'd be interested, if the price doesn't stop my heart. Can you PM me please?

A better question might be, why say it at all?

I have a sneaking suspicion that it is an 'in' word, first used to indicate that the user is a 'serious' photographer, and somewhat above the common herd. I never once heard that word in my 35mm days, even when I was at my most earnest.

A long time ago, in a land far, far away, I was a young man with much interest in Hi Fi. I spent as much as I was able to buy the best I could afford, and generally enjoyed the hobby. Remember, I am talking about the days of vinyl. Then, one day, I was talking to a Hi Fi nut who was very clued up. He made a statement that almost changed my life. That was "Most Hi Fi nuts don't listen to the music, they listen to the silences in between." He was right, I believe.

Sitting gazing at my growing collection of Pentax gear, the thought struck me, is this the same principle in photography? Do most photographers concentrate more on the technical reproduction that their equipment is capable of, or does the composition of the picture come first?

I suspect that most really good pictures could have been taken on a low to mid range camera without a problem, and yet, I hear people speaking of 'entry level' camera with a somewhat disparaging tone. I don't doubt that some are pulled in by a quality camera that would otherwise fail, or at least be a lesser image, but I am beginning to think that the comparison is valid.

OK, it's not everybody, and not all the time, and the two are not mutually exclusive, but, well, what do you think? As it happens, I think it's fun anyway, but the knowledge of what is driving you is worth having.

I hope this is in the right section.

Digging through my old bits box, I came across a couple of old lightmeters. Both Westons, with invercones. One A Euromaster 2, the other a five (V).

They got me wondering if anyone still uses a light meter.

Following remarks on this board about flash and the *Ist cameras, I dug out an old AF240ft, By golly, it seems to work as an auto TTL flash.

When I first got holdof this software, I found the tool that allows you to mark out boundaries between colours so that you could quite easily select, for instance, a particular individual in a picture, and cut them out to transfer to another. It was a simple case of drawing around the subject, which gave you, IIRC, a gold coloured highlight, and you the made your selection.

Damned if I can find it again. Can anyone help?
