Had the chance to give the *Ist a bit today. Using my favourite mill building by a river, just for the defninition of the bricks, windows etc. I was surprised at the lack of difference between to *Ist and my K200D. Same lenses used. In practical terms, there would seem to be very little difference between 10 megapixel and 6+ something megapixel for many images.

Still, can't have too many gadgets though.

Well chaps. £100 secured the purchase of a Pentax *ist DS body in almost as new condition to look at. Testing (playing) has now commenced.

I'm thinking of buying an 'ist' model SLR as a spare body. Can somebody please be kind enough to let me know the different types available (if there is) and if there's anything I should be aware of?

I currently use a K200D, with pentax 18-50 (or whatever it is), Tamron 75-300, Pentax 50mm f1.4, Tamron mirror lens and a few other odds and sods.

The pre flash on my Metz is pretty damned quick. To see it, you have to be in ideal conditions. Normally, it's not noticeable.

Thanks for that the advice chaps. All worked fine,no problem. OTOH, I did have a few harsh shadows in the large group shots, due to the fairly hash sunlight and limited space outside. That showed me the limits in respect of light / shadow. Thank God for Photoshop!

I'm doing a wedding tomorrow (first for many years), and I have heard tell that digital cameras can experience operating problems in cold weather, and it's sure going to be bloody cold. As above, I will be using a K200D, with a Sigma 24-135 as main kit, with a Fuji 9600 as backup. Flash is going to be a choice of either a Metz CT60 or Metz 58 AF-1. (plus a whip and a chair, obligatory for such events :mrgreen

It's likely to be taking place entirely within a hotel building, but the couple are likely to be wanting some outdoor images.

Advice in respect of temperature issues would be appreciated.

TIA
