Thanks guys. I agree about the chaffinch but I'm not sure my cloning skills (or patience) are up to it!

Ok, maybe I'm being really really thick - but where do I post my entry? (Sorry folks, I'm quite new to the forum!!)

Went out and about today to field test my new K20D properly, but before I did that I took this shot of a lovely chrysanthemum. Shot against a black nylon backdrop that I bluetacked to the wall, and lit from below by a handheld LED torch. This was taken with my Tamron 18-250.

(If you fancy a nosy at my other shots from today, click on the link to my Flickr account in my signature below).

I've been delighted with the 18-250 lens since I bought it. It was bought for a three week holiday to Canada as a walkabout lens and it was great. Not had a single complaint about the quality of images from it (other than my skills as a photographer!). I'd say I prefer it to the 70-300. Less chromatic abberations and a bit sharper in general. Its heavy at the front though so unless you retract the lens and put the lock on it has a tendancy to slide forward and extend as you walk around.

Great shot again. I'm really chuffed to see these as I have the Tamron 70-300 but not used it a great deal. Its good to see its capable of terrific colourful and sharp shots like this.

Really great shots. I'm surprised you are still allowed to do this in our security mad world. Third one is also my favourite. Speaking of Concorde, here's a shot I took last year of the one at the East Fortune Museum of Flight (part of the National Museum of Scotland)

and this one, also from East Fortune, of a Vulcan Bomber was published in the August edition of Digital SLR User magazine! (my claim to fame!)
