It does not have HSM in either Pentax or Sony mounts. Sigma reverse engineer their mounts so I guess they haven't cracked the Pentax or Sony algorythms yet.

Oops, my mistake. From memory I thought it was a square crop on flickr. My brain is fried after working some long hours !

What lens did you use for this Tim ? It has a very pleasant rendering quality.

Have you ever been to Cwm Coke Works: Bob: "RR" on this site knows it well and has taken a remarkable set of pictures. Really too good to equal!
I'm flattered Andrew, but a simple search for "cwm cokeworks" on flickr blows that theory out of the water. This place is local to me & if anyone fancies exploring it then I'd be happy to advise or accompany. Do not go inside alone though as there are some dangerous areas (this was heavy industry after all)

I fancy a visit to Talgarth Lunatic Asylum next for some more gritty shots, but I need to wait until I have a weekend free as I've been advised that part of the site is used as office space during the week. A search of "Talgarth asylum" on flickr throws up some great shots.

The 3rd one is least successful as an abstract because you can tell what it is fairly easily.

I'd rotate the image & convert to b&w to confuse the viewer.

As always, if you object to me altering your image, I'll remove it asap.

Don't lose the colour from the first two though as the tones are warm & sumptuous. I saw your square crop on flickr before seeing this thread & I think the advice to crop was sound.

I have the Intuos 3 from Wacom, it's an A5 wide & is usually a little too large so needs larger sweeps of the hand. The extra size however is great for intricate work. The bamboo looks great, & if I was buying again I'd probably save money & go for the largest Bamboo. It has half the pressure levels I believe but I don't think I'd notice the difference to be honest.

I'd love a 21" Cintiq VIDEO HERE but cannot justify the cost.

A very nice set, you've done well to retain the subtle tones & also bring out the textures.

I've always been intrigued by this place, your shots have persuaded me to make a visit. Another place that looks good is "Talgarth Mental Asylum" which is being systematically torn down, so I guess it's sooner rather than later. I've also paid a few visits to "Cwm cokeworks" which is full of interest, but rather dangerous.

If anyone is planning a visit to any of these then let me know & I'll try & tag along.

Thanks Pete. I think I'll make a trial purchase before ordering all that I need, just to check the fitment/quality.

I find some Sigma caps to be very poor. The 72mm one fitted to my 150mm is easily knocked off, the centre pinch cap on my Sigma 50mm f1.4 however is extremely secure & very easy to fit/remove.
Anyone know of a good source of aftermarket centre pinch style caps ? Or should I just give ebay a trawl ?

I think it's a decent performer Kris from what I've read. Of interest to 35mm guys as it's very cheap for a superwide.
I doubt it'd outperform the kit lens on aps-c though so hardly worth it for dslr users.

Very nice Andrew. I love abandoned buildings for their texture & form. This is a great little series. I prefer the original colour shots as they are suitably contrasy & muted to begin with & portray the dereliction better than the mono versions.

There is a large movement called "urbex" - there are forums that may help you find nearby sites. Of course, some can be very dangerous so I'd suggest going as at least a pair & letting others know where you are going !
