I'm expecting that, when the current agreement with Tokina ends, that we will see Pentax developed lenses being released for other systems under the Hoya banner.
We have to hope that Hoya will not be as badly hit as some other manufacturers (such as Sony) by the current recession. Since they don't have their fingers in quite so many recession sensitive field they may fare better.

The 100mm macro is sublime for macro work - flowers, bugs etc.
It's also a cracker for lowlight work (like my kids in school plays) where you can't use flash. Even when using bounced flash and shooting at f/4 the macro really shines. (Knocks dead some "pro" shots! LOL!)
For portrait work - yes, it's great, up to a point. But as Benjamin put it "brutally sharp". You'll get every imperfection, wrinkle, spot and hair. Very cruel
Flash work isn't that difficult... especially with remote AF360 or AF540 and brolly... which reminds me: I must try and find time to finish off (the words at least) my Pentax flash guide ebook (Please don't berate me everyone - it's been a tough time lately!)

What effect would it have for Lilly's portrait work?

We managed to get as far as Looe this year, and hopefully will get to see more of Cornwall in 2009.
Kindest regards,

I am trying to get one of these SP8270 which fits the K20D, trailed through websites everywhere and cannot locate one, anyone by chance got one already from somewhere or can suggest a source please?

Here is the article I read it from:

Lilly
If it helps Pentax market protective foils for their cameras, but typically not in 2.7 size.
Fuiji Film do, and I had one of these fitted to my K20D before leaving. They come in packs of 3 I believe, I also fitted a UV filter to the lens so I was fully protected before leaving Park Cameras.
Hope this is of use,
Roscoe.

I shall let you know when I have purchased this lens, and will take shots as soon as I'm able.
Your name sounds as if it might be Sri Lankan, is this so?
Mine is Cornish.

All I wanted to do was to wish everyone on the Digital Single Lens Reflex forum, Christmas Greetings and a Happy New Year.
Having said that, I look forward to seeing photos from beginners like me, and from the professionals, so that we can compare and hopefuly better our efforts.

Roscoe,
I have the "E" remote - the zoom functions are for the compact film camera
The wired remote is almost certainly going to be a better bet Sometimes with the IR remote the signal isn't "seen" (especially in bright lighting). The wired remote can be easily extended with a cheap 2.5mm stereo headphone lead

It's also small and is still shown on the Pentax website, and was designed to fit into the accessories pockets on the MZ camera strap!
Remote one side and eyepiece cover on the other.
Regards Roscoe.

But how do you keep the woodpidgeons from pooping on the camera?
I think that when we move, I will position the bird table in sight of the patio door, mount the K20D onto the trusty old Slik, connect a cable and sit in the arm chair, having set up the lens.
