Like many no doubt we have a small and modest garden but over the years it has become populated by plants and objects which hold special memories, evoking a moment from a while ago or of friends and relatives, some no longer with us. There are the Mothers Day gifts of primulas bought by children and brought from an earlier house, a birthday rose from a friend sadly taken too soon, plants from our parents’ gardens and so on. Each year the flowers emerge and we are reminded for a moment of those special times and people, and it has occurred to me it would be nice to make a photo book over the seasons of these special plants. I already have a few photos in my archive but by making this into a project I can concentrate on catching them at their best.

What other photo assignments do others have in mind?

Of course we remember your street portraits, these are great but the attitude of last one stands out for me.

A cracking set of images, great to see such an original take.

Hang on David, no-one has said anything about the kit not being weather resistant! My copy of the lens has a very slight movement in the barrel itself, not at the mount, is that what we are discussing? It has been out in all conditions without any ill effects to lens or camera and the results from it are superb. I have toyed with buying the new f4 70-210 just for being lighter but I know I would look at the results and always question whether I should have taken the f2.8 70-200 instead.

Even the most cynical of reviewers so far have acknowledged the new camera is excellent.

A new printer. Nothing special to report about that. What does deserve a special mention, though, is superb service from Carmarthen Cameras.

I'd originally ordered the printer from a big online merchant that sells all things electrical and electronic. Many printers 'out of stock' but this one 'in stock'. Delivery date in a week, according to the order. A week came and no printer. Checked and found that it was actually out of stock (although still showing as in stock), hoping for new stock in 3 weeks. And they hadn't told me, in spite of 'We'll keep you updated with progress of your order". So looked around, saw Carmarthen was saying it was in stock, phoned, got immediate confirmation that they had 19 (I think) on the premises and had a nice chat with a helpful man. Ordered online late morning yesterday, it arrived late morning today. Couldn't be better.

Now just waiting for the old printer to finally pack up before getting the new one up and running. Got lots of ink for the old one so may as well use as much as possible!

I have used them in the past and found them very helpful too. It’s a shame that printers are one item you cannot p/x for a new one, I was thinking of upgrading mine but it still works perfectly so it is staying for the time being.

Whilst I get magazines for free through the library I expect that the online service they use pays something to the publishers, which the library service absorbs within their budget. As you expect editors vehemently deny any bias in favour of advertisers and to be fair any "editorial" prepared with or by a manufacturer is titled accordingly.

Update: my letter to the AP editor seems to have worked, my local newsagent is stocking the mag again albeit one copy per week. The shop manager said that when people stop buying then the mags get dropped so I have shot myself in the foot rather, I will have to keep buying one now! Which is a pain because there is little of interest to me and I get it free online from the library but I would hate to see it disappear.

I am sorry I have misinterpreted the K70 specification, the defining document is the excellent Pentax flash guide by member McGregNi in which he includes the K70 as one of the bodies that does not support wireless from its internal flash.

I agree with pschlute that a wireless trigger is probably better in that it doesn’t need a line of sight to work although of course it is more kit and batteries to cope with.

According to the Ricoh website the flash includes wireless synch; I recall my K50 had this feature using the flashlight coordination so I would have been surprised if the K70 didn’t.

Dunno, did you empty both card slots and just use one for the update?
