One other thing - the SRS Microsystems website says it can be used in the rain, but the manual says that it "is designed to be water-proof and dust-proof. However do not use the flash unit where it may be directly exposed to rain, water etc". In other words, it is designed to be waterproof but that doesn't mean it is. How does that stand with the Trade Descriptions Act?

The 100 macro is a DFA lens - it's entirely FF compatible.

You don't know how hard it can get .... I'm in the early stages of FBA ... Flash buying addiction.
It's not so bad for you LBA people ... There's quite a community of you, and a lot of information and support out there. FBA looks like it will forever be a minority concern and widely misunderstood by the general photographic community. I mean there really ARE people out there who seriously think that one is enough!!

Thanks for the pricing update.
Lots of bargains here. Just look at the DA* 50-135 or the HD 55-300.
I am very tempted to get something

I was on the Ricoh stand from 12.50 to 01.15 and only met one person to speak to from the forum.
CHEERS Vic.

I think the answer might be in a new type of universal mount with adaptor for the third party lens makers ... like the old Tamron Adaptall system. That way it is economic to produce the lenses and still get sales for the camera makes with smaller market shares. You get sales of the adaptors as well!

I did consider a smart cable link which might still be an option in the situation McGregNi describes but not at Pentax prices! Cable £69, hotshoe mounts £32 each totals around £133 whereas I have seen all-in-one connectors for less than £20.00 allegedly doing the same thing.
PS re. Fletcher8's last comment, I was searching for a tripod mount for flash when I discovered that whilst the flash shoe is a standard fit across all manufacturers (apart from the contacts configuration), Sony is an exception with it's own size.
