However you may want to take that link down after what I saw when I clicked on it .... I'm no prude but if a child looks at it there may be a few complaints about the surrounding adverts. Not sure I want to watch Alina's videos from Bristol or play the sexiest game of 2022, I may have a heart attack before I finish either.

I tried the link but had no luck with the ads you mentioned, but I guess that’s because YouTube tailors their ads to your preferences!

Is the forest being cleared of commercial timber to make way for indigenous broadleaved trees? That is what is happening locally here (except for HS2 which is demolishing ancient woodland).

I love the light in these, especially no.1 with the mountains.

I hear it said that soft focus effects can be added in post processing, but I'm not sure the beautifully soft halo-ing on that first shot and the fluffy backgrounds would be the same
Thanks LennyBloke, I have tried unsuccessfully to get the soft effect in Lightroom and Photoshop but then I am only a novice in the latter. I am sure if I worked at it then something approximating is possible but it would surely lack that special touch of being in focus but softened combined with the shallow depth of field, but using this lens it is just so much easier. As the aperture is set on the lens ring I can also see the effect through the viewfinder or in live view and adjust to suit. Autofocus works reasonably well through the viewfinder but not in live view, and focusing manually even with an extension tube still gets the focus confirmation. Conversely in Lightroom I can locally dehaze and add texture to the in-focus areas if I want a bit more definition which is pretty quick and straightforward.

One aspect of focus stacking I have never found a satisfactory answer to is that the subject changes in size within the frame as you focus from front to back, whether you are moving the front of the lens or the whole camera body. The only way I can think is if a macro lens has internal focusing and you focus with the lens, but I haven’t seen any that are built that way. Given that whatever software you use has to compensate for this I find that the more steps you use the better it is resolved. I think using a longer focal length helps as well, my default for stacking being the 100mm macro.

I am impressed that you managed an acceptable stack with only three images!
