Have you tried different focus area settings - spot, automatic etc?

The only working watermill in Warwickshire, on the river Avon, had an open day yesterday - they have a few every year. A mill has been on the site since the Domesday Book and possibly earlier but the present mill was built in 1761 and was restored to working order in the 1980s. Now producing flour, 60% of which ends up in chapatis in Indian restaurants and a little bit in my home-baked bread. I tried flash inside but preferred the non-flash results despite the high ISOs.

Interesting set, I particularly like graphic compositions of 2, 3 & 6, finding these seems to be your forte. A touch of Martin Parr’s The Last Resort to the seaside ones, Rhyl looks particularly uninviting!

Excellent set, the first three a quite painterly, and the last stacked image has come out really well.

I hope things worked out Gwyn. Spent the bank holiday decorating the lounge; it was supposed to cost nothing as I had over-ordered the paint for the hall but broke one of the plaster wall lights so had to get two new ones. They are supposed to have LED bulbs as new EU rules ordered other types to be withdrawn from sale on the same weekend but none of the local stores stock dimmable ones so ordered four online. They flickered and hummed so I ordered four more, same problem. Turns out the dimmer switch needs to be changed to an LED compatible one - more expense! Anyhow to buy time I bought a batch of cheap halogen bulbs online which is probably illegal but of course they work fine.
I think existing stocks of halogen bulbs can still be sold. I replaced all our downlighters in the spring and fitted LED bulbs. Yes, the dimmers will usually need to be replaced too. The savings over time are significant with LED using a fraction of the power traditional ones do. Even better is the life of them. I was forever up and down a set of steps replacing halogen bulbs, but not any more. LED's last years.
I did the same with downlights a while ago but they aren’t on dimmers. TBH I am not a natural with electrics and whenever I go to change anything I wonder why there are so many wires and where do they all go, and why are the holes they go in too small, so end up calling an electrician.

I like the simplest ones the best, lots of potential. Re. the photographer I am curious to know what he is hoping to achieve with the bounce flash!

Sunsets on the east coast they are then, it turns out that carmagw is that special sort of photographer! Whetted my appetite for my trip when we will be getting up for the sunrise.

Sorry to hear your news, you are making a noble sacrifice and a shame we won’t be seeing any more of your outstanding macro images. Hopefully you get the best prices and in the future maybe things will improve and you can replace the kit.
