Charlecote watermill

The only working watermill in Warwickshire, on the river Avon, had an open day yesterday - they have a few every year. A mill has been on the site since the Domesday Book and possibly earlier but the present mill was built in 1761 and was restored to working order in the 1980s. Now producing flour, 60% of which ends up in chapatis in Indian restaurants and a little bit in my home-baked bread. I tried flash inside but preferred the non-flash results despite the high ISOs.

Good set Rob. Somewhere I've never visited although I only live 15 miles away - my loss clearly.

Is the mill on the Walton estate by Wellesbourne not still working? An old friend of mine used to work part-time as miller there a few years ago.

Hi SteveF I visited the Wellesbourne mill a long time ago but haven’t seen anything about it for ages. There is an animal feed supplier there now called Watermill Feeds but I don’t know if they actually mill it. The Charlecote Mill claims to be the only working mill around so maybe not.

Nice set. Interesting to an ex baker.
C&C welcome.
Don.
