Stick with it, don’t be hasty, it’s a fine lens.

And I thought I had safely survived Black Friday for the first time without temptation!

I am completely non-technical when it comes to computers and the technical specs are meaningless, other than if the numbers are higher then it must be better, right? So please keep that in mind when reading my comments.

I recently bought a 2017 MacBook Pro and it’s ok for Lightroom but a bit slow, and a slight time lag is annoying when adjusting sliders, but that is all right for me as I mainly use an iMac with added processing which is fine. Same with AutoCad which is my work software. Reviewers say the 2018 version is better so maybe I should have hung on for the Black Friday deals! I don’t know whether the MacBook Air would have the oomph to run Lightroom as quickly as you would like, and I imagine Photoshop would be the same. These are just my general impressions so it would be worth researching a lot more reviews before deciding. As for screen size I ummed and aahed before deciding I might regret getting the 13” so bought the 15” and glad I did as the smaller one would be like keyhole surgery if you get my drift, but if you have a separate monitor then the only issue is processing speed and a Mac would be better I would have thought.

As long as you have access to a power source a portable SSD device would be the thing, Sandisk do one - Extreme Portable, rugged but rather expensive. Either use cable to connect the camera or a card reader. If away from a power source for a period of time then a rechargeable power pack like used for laptops would be handy.

Excellently observed, no. 10 is my favourite.

The 50mm Macro price is unbelievable. One of the best lenses ever made.
In what way?

Can be good for pics, driving along the A30 yesterday looking towards Dartmoor the mist was glowing from the low sun and lighting all the autumnal shades. Nowhere to stop and it was gone very quickly, how many times does that happen?

At least something good came of the time spent there, but don't reckon it needed a course to attend to take them though. But (of course) without the course those photos wouldn't have been taken!
Quite, would I have got up otherwise at 5.30 am, driven in the dark and walked across a golf course to Dunstanburgh Castle (couldn’t find my head torch, handheld rechargeable led dead) in time for sunrise? I like to think so, but unlikely. And also a mild sense of competition although I have yet to see anyone else’s results despite Light and Land inviting us to post images in their gallery.

Lovely set of images. I prefer the 2nd crop of no. 3. I also really like the rope.

Thanks, re. the rope, it was a dull morning with flat light so I took details instead and this was with the 24mm Samyang tilt/shift lens.

I like no. 4 especially, it is, dare I say, ‘painterly’! Sometimes tricky to get the effect right but you have done well with this set, well done.
