I find the older I get the more cynical I become of market driven technologies - some examples,
:Win 95 over OS/2 - OS/2 had an object oriented desktop that still has not equalled today 20+ years on.
:Cloud vs OnPrem - I can build a workstation for €4K that has a equivalent compute power to a cloud server that costs €1.8K pm.
:Nokia's Meego on the N9 vs Windows Mobile - shakes head
While I understand the concept of the mirrorless camera helping a layperson creating a better image through improved compute and automation, Pentax is right to and brave in sticking to their concept of their photographic process and majoring on that. The one thing that has struck me in any report I've watched or read is that the K-3iii is fun to use but underneath it all is an image creating powerhouse.
I'm looking forward to its arrival.

Because the DFA*70-200 is a full frame lens would it still be suitable for use on an APS-C camera?

On Sunday May 2nd I tried out my new K3 III at the first stock car/banger meeting of the 2021 season (run under covid guidelines)....photos are in the 'Your Photos' gallery.
My initial thoughts are that I am a little underwhelmed with the performance, the image quality doesn't look much difference to my K3 II to be honest. The auto focus does seem a little faster when using continuous focus mode but out of the 1315 images I took I still ended up deleting around 250 as theses were way out of focus, which about the same as if I had used my K3 II.
I tried one set of races using the SR Panning setting, I wasn't impressed, so I just turned the SR setting off, which is my normal setting for fast moving cars.
The shutter release button is way to sensitive, it's fine in single shot mode but in drive mode you've got no chance. I initially had it on the high setting (12fps) but as soon as I pressed the button fully down to take the shot it just kept on taking them, so instead of taking one shot it took loads. I changed the setting to medium and it was the same, it just didn't take so many shots. It might be that I've just got to get used to an ultra sensitive shutter release button.
The camera did lock up once and I had to remove the battery to get it to turn off and reset it, although the battery was quite low on power as hadn't realised the battery meter was in the red.
The view finder is nice and bright though.
Is the K3 III the all singing all dancing motor sport camera I hoped it would be...my personal opinion is...no it's not, but having said that it was my first time using it so things might change the more I get used to it.
Regards, Chris.
Cracking shots BTW

It's near the end of the video. Different cameras for different creative purposes. Why limit your photographic experience by only having one Pentax camera? Get both a K3III and a K1.

Viewfinder is a tiny bit brighter than the K-1 and just luxurious to look through, it picks up just enhances the light somehow.
Shutter button doesn't have a defined half press but is very sensitive so a caress brings the camera to life, i find I can control the shutter very easily picking off single, double or say a triple burst within 30 mins of acclimatisation.
One of the first lens I mounted was the DA*50-135 and while I won't say transformed, I will say improved enough to be noticeable, with the camera being far more assured in driving the AF. Accuracy is spot on.
Image below is 12.8K ISO, 135 @ f/2.8 around MFD, being bold with 1/50s, focus point on the needle and loads of reds Camera is in stock out of box state other than I've set date, copyright and raw format to dng.
K-3iii & DA*50-135/2.8
Last note, the raw files have a less grainy feel to them compared to the K-3. I use creative cloud version of Light room and Adobe has not as yet released an update to recognise the K-3iii
