But then, the USB interface has been abused ever since it was introduced!
It looks like the connector is refered to as 'USB7', and is used be a number of Cameras due to it's ability to carry the USB signal, and has support for an additional three pins for AV signals.

Scroll down about 1/2 way.
Looks like we're not alone on this one. It appears to be a 'standard' camera one, as it looks to have the USB pins, and spaces for the extra AV connections used on a lot of cameras.
Looking up 'usb7' gives this

Those are supposed to be the standard Micro-B, and as with the diagrams, they have 5 centrally placed pins.
Which supports the opinion that the Pentax connector is a proprietory variant on Micro-B.
@Anvh - Yeh, HTC call their connector Micro-B Extended, but is supposed to be baackwards compatible. From my scouting about, the USB Standard looks to be one of the most abused standards about
Edit - sorry about the image sizes...

TBH, I've seen so many different USB connectors on different phones and cameras that look similar and don't fit each others cables I tend to assume they're all proprietory.

So rather then faff about pulling the JPGs from the RAWs, or anything else likely to be too much for the little Netbook my Wife and I cart around, I can just coppy all the JPGs from the card, and set a slideshow going for the Family to see.
Then, when I get home, I can play around with the RAWs to my hearts content.
Family get instant gratification. I get to tweak at home. Everyone's a Winner.

The standard USB connector is USB-A
The standard USB Printer Connector is USB-B
The standard small USB Connector used by most MP3 players and Phones that don't use proprietory cables is USB Mini-B
The Standard USB Mini-A is an underused connector, with most seeming to be variants that have been made proprietory in some way or another. Chances are, you have a camera with something that looks like it, but chances are, your cable from one, doesn't fit the other.
Here are the official USB connectors as defined by the USB Standard.

Any connector that isn't one of those, isn't a USB Standard, but a proprietory connector of some description.

My card reader uses USB Mini-B, as do most of the ones I've come across.
Dark, could you give the models of the Cameras that you're refering to?
This is the link I meant to use last time, instead of doubling up on the Hardware blog one...
