Wow, great shots, love the second one. Only thing i would say is the colours look a little washed out to me, a boost in saturation and contrast may improve it.

Hi,
I`m looking at new lenses and am wondering what happens when you use a lens with built in stabilization with a body with built in stabilisation?

Is there some magical formula that says you get double the stops or 1.5x stops or does it not work like that?

thanks everyone, and particularly John. Even though you wouldn't be able to do my wedding, it's interesting to see as wide a variety of styles as I can find just to help get a feel for what I actually want.

Talk about a "nice day for a white wedding"!
Its also a little far for me, but if you want to look at another site for ideas......

There's a mid-range DSLR group test between the K7, Canon EOS 7D and Nikon D300S in the February issue of Digital Photo magazine. Whilst the K7 came in 3rd place, the EOS 7D came 1st, the magazine did say it was a solid & robust DSLR at a competitive price. The feature set is excellent and if your looking to upgrade from a K10 or K1000D its a very good choice. Unfortunately with the tough competition from Nikon and Canon the K7 can't live with the performance and image quality benchmarks laid down by the market leaders.

I think it is mentioned in another thread somewhere, but just to remind everyone, Canon and Nikon spend a fortune advertising with this publication. Could this have an effect on there test results?

Penguins are not hippos.

I was just saying that its not exclusive to pros, in fact i think its the opposite, pros use photoshop alot but tend to know when to stop. Amateurs tend to push things too far IMHO.

So older film photographs are analogue art? lol.

I think you`re right. Pentax users are not sheep that follow the latest trends, fads and marketing blurb, and therefore are not drawn into the latest fashion of overprocessed images.

I agree we all use some processing in our images but where does the point lye where a photograph is no longer a photograph and becomes a piece of "digital art"?
I reiterate my position which is very different from yours.

THere might be a 2% of pentax users who are professional photographers. the remaining 98% doesn't NEED photoshop for their living, and therefore has a choice of using it or not.
I dont think it is a question of needing to PP or not becouse you are pro or am. There are vast numbers of amatuers out there using Nikon and Cannon equipment. Photoshop is such an accessable program and all the glossy mags print plenty of how-to`s showing you how to manipulate your images to the extreme. I think amateurs buy these mags and after reading a few think that that is what digital photography is all about.

My OP was just making the observation that Pentax users here seem to post images that have lighter processing and a more natural look.

So i ask my second question again ....

When does a phtograph stop being a photograph and become digital art?

Hi, Having just joined this site after being a member on another site for several years i have noticed that Pentax users here are alot more restrained with thier use of photoshop.
The shots on the gallery are more like true representations of what the photographer sees rather than some over saturated, filtered, heavily processed image that becomes more of a piece of art than a photograph.

Would be interested to hear others thoughts on this. Is this unique to Pentax users? Is there something about nikon/cannon users that makes them feel the need to heavily process every image they take?
