My next door neighbours just bought a Sony 200 I was surprised it takes CF, he's also paid £23 for a no name 4GB CF card. I tried to get him to buy a k-m but he seemed set on Sony, said he didn't want Canon because they weren't a proper camera manufacturer, they are photocopier manufacturers

Keep shooting 400 shots a day you will have to tap up(ask) the Mrs Amin for some money for a K-7
Or should I get the Canon 50D , you seem happy with it Tel

Back on topic, when Pentax revamped their site earlier this year some pages appeared in German.
I posted about it then.
Guess what? They're still there, in German.
It seem s Pentax UK are in a bit of a pickle, they seem to be concentrating on, well what?
Servicing's getting a slating, website is not up to U.S., Canadian et al standards, let's hope supply is OK unless we could loose our confidence completely.
We need confidence in Pentax U.K. so how can we get this across to them? :::
The first thing is to look at the USA, Canada etc websites to see why they are so much better than the UKs, this could then form the basis for the argument. That done, there needs to be a petition and hopefully all from this site would sign. This then needs to be sent not only to Pentax UK, but to the main Headquarters Of Pentax itself in Japan. If enough UK Pentax customers complain, just maybe it will move them into action, if nothing is done, then its the Status Quo.

What make are the cards? Mine doesn't like Sandisk.
Does the light flash when you insert the card with the
camera turned off?

I have two K10D and a K20 D and I've only ever used Sandisk Extreme 111s in them, I know your not keen on Sandisk and Yes the light does flash when the cards are inserted, with the camera off on all three bodies?

If it's as nice as it looks (and I've liked pretty much everything I've seen and heard so far) then I'll probably snap at around £600. Which means I'll get one in about 18 months / 2 years I reckon...
Lucky I'm a patient chap really

Think that fits the bill.

Amin you know what will make you photos better don't you A very nice Pentax K7, or for speed a Canon 50D.
You definitely want to get me in trouble. Shhhh
Hmmm, now just thinking here is the AF.C locking really fast in the Canon 50D Tel?
This is the part that frustrates me actually with the K20D but I have learnt to live with it, or better without it . For example when I am trying to get shots of my little one and the moment he is running or walking towards me and I want to get a decent shot, there seems no way i can get one of him unless he is stationary. I am always running behind that fraction of a second late and the images come fuzzy.
Unless there is a trick you more experienced members use that I could use to get around this.

I have long been a Pentax user, a 'stills photographer' and a firm film chap. Video has never interested me, apart from recording TV programs and I take your point John, I have not seen the K 7 yet, only read, probably what you have read about it so far. But for me personally, I would have appreciated increased pixels, full frame sensor (not sure) features that would assist me in my passion for forty seven years, still photography. Had I been interested in movie making, did some standard 8 and 16mm when I was younger, I would have by now bought a video camera. I know what you are going to say next, that Pentax has to pursue the market forces, but at what expense to photography itself?
We have a compact here at home with 12 mp but when the light is just a little less then bright sunlight the noise kicks in. Luckily it has a special CCD which can group two adjacent pixels together to create a single large pixel and this gives you a 6mp camera with adequate resolution and a lot less noise.
It is a Fuji with a EXR CCD. The pixels are aranged differently so that every pixel is adjacent to antoher pixel of the same colour (not the typical bayer pattern).
14,6 for me is enough for an APS-C sized sensor, for a full-frame sensor I see about 20mp as a nice limit. If you want anything with a higher resolution you should look at a 645 or larger camera.
