Thanks for all the advice
Well, now you have made your excellent choice, I do hope you are going to post some macro images for us all to view, once you have completed the sea trials, so to speak. Enjoy your new acquisition Huw.

Thanks for the ideas guys!

As for the moving sensor, will try it out another day as the tripod is in the shop, will put it on the list though!

Will check back later as I'm getting moaned at for not being in the pub!

Might be better testing it when you have had a few in the pub, you could test the spirit level and the Wobble compensation valve.

By the way did you go the SRS route or else where?
No greytop, I always support the local camera retailer, plug, Carmarthen Cameras, they always match SRS, Pentax Pro Dealer and I can have a cup of tea, which for me is excellent.

OK you chaps, all this talk about Pentax Prices increases, you've all given me the jitters, I have been after the 10-17mm DA for while, well I know its not a Macro and this thread is so, looking for someone to blame I'll pick on greytop, so its your fault my wallet is now light, yep, been out and bought it today, what with all this talk about VAT going to 20% by Christmas thought I'd do the deed, thanks greytop!!!

Hi Greytop, Thought I would throw a spanner in the works for you. I don't have the 50mm macro, but I do have the Pentax - DA 2.8 35mm Macro Limited and not only is it a superb macro, its a lovely portrait lens as well. If you are looking to buy new, I would not even consider Sigma or Tamron unless second hand, Sigma made a lovely 50mm pre-digital macro, which you can still pick up for about £100, the current Sigma does not have the same optical quality.

No Pete, there is no flange on them, tried one on a lens with contacts and the lens cap covers half of the contacts.

That's a FRONT cap!!!!!!!
iceblinker, I gave the link so you could go to their (Greenlife) website, once there, type in the search box what you are after OK. I have used them many times, front lens caps, rear lens caps, body caps and much more, they are quality and accurately fit Pentax Lenses, once ordered, takes about eight days to come OK.
Let me know how you get on. Now go to their website proper.

I tried hard to find cheaper rear lens caps that are as good as Pentax's, and failed.
Try Geenlife-Style on eBay via Hong Kong I can recommend them:
