Best wishes, one and all, from sunny Scotland, the land where men wear skirts and no knickers.
All the best ...
Bobby.

I had to get my order in quick as the kids' Christmas "needs" were quickly eroding my camera fund.
Still not decided on a 18-135 or 17-70 zoom to go with it, but I have until January pay-day to decide that.
I'm now hoping for some photogenic Scottish weather over the Christmas holidays.
Happy snapping everyone - have a great Christmas.

Well, the time has come to actually place an order for (drum roll please ....) my new K-5 and zoom lens.
Serious question now - having read reviews about the 18-135 zoom I'm a wee bit concerned about image quality, and one reviewer actually recommended the 17-70 zoom instead. Both lenses are identically priced so it really is a toss-up between the two. I can read reviews until I'm blue in the face, but I'd rather hear from those who've actually used these lenses in anger.
Main factors to consider are the weather resistance of the 18-135 and the apparent superior image quality of the 17-70.
Help me with my quandry, please.

It's a wee bit above your price bracket but is a quality piece of kit. I've used a cheaper one in the past but it doesn't approach the Logan system.

Hmm.
Well whether its because of reduced profits, or just because they were being made to look a fool, I'm glad at the eventual outcome!
I think the real problem here and elsewhere, is this 'rulebook' attitude to life, where the use of discretion or common sense are over-ridden by a love of petty, misapplied, poorly understood 'rules'.
Look at how we love to moan about EU regulations while enforcing them twice as officiously as anywhere else in Europe. Exactly the same thing.

If the management of these shopping centres perceived some sort of danger or risk in relation to any of the usual media fuelled paranoias (terrorism, paedophilia, violence etc), what has happened to change their minds? Have the perceived threats disappeared overnight?
No!
The only real threat perceived by these people is the threat of reduced profits.
Good to know that the mighty pound always takes precedence over such trifling matters as safety, security, happiness, civil liberties etc. There are some things about UK plc that I really detest!

Anyway, I got to thinking that Santa might be good to me this year and leave a nice new K-5 & 18-135 in my stocking. To ease his passage (so to speak) I thought about trading-in my K-X & two kit lenses. Seems I wont get much for them. So...
Many of you out there have more than one camera body. Apart from the pros in our midst, what do you amateurs and hobbyists use your second ( or third, or fourth ....) body for? Is it simply to have a spare? Is it really such a pain to have to change lenses "in the field"? Should I hang on to the K-X?
Go on, persuade me!
