Anywhere north of Gretna.

For achitecture and cityscapes - Edinburgh and to an only slightly lesser extent, Glasgow.

For landscapes - anywhere north and south of the central belt.

For wild-life - the Cairngorms and Isle of Mull

My favourites are the west highlands and Argyllshire. My favourite island has to be Islay for the peace, tranquility, scenery, wildlife and whisky.

Islay 1 Islay 2

Hi Axel,

I was lucky enough to acquire the same kit a few months ago and I haven't looked back. You wont be disappointed.

Enjoy.

Thanks both Johns.

I've done a wee bit more research and now feel that a fish-eye does seem to be a bit more "specialist".

I think I'll stick to fairly standard wide zoom for the time being. I'm tending towards the ubiquitous Sigma 10-20.

I now use multi-focal (vari-focal) contact lenses. I was sceptical at first.

They have concentric circles of differing focal lengths and apparently your brain "tunes out" the stuff you dont want to see. They dont provide pin-sharp perfect vision like specs and they took a bit of getting used to at first, but now I wont be without them. I can easily read small print as well as see clearly at distance

I now no longer need specs, either for distance or close up vision however for really intricate, close-up stuff (tying fishing flies or electronics repairs) I do revert to specs.

No more dirty spec-lenses, no more wiping specs in the rain, no more steaming up when coming inside from the cold, no more steaming up when cooking, no more sitting on and destroying my £290 Armani specs, no more forgetting where I left my specs and searching for them, no more looking like a nodding dog when using vari-focals.

As I said previously - a God-send and as jeffstclair said, life-changing.

I also used to be a "spec pusher upper" however I've now found the ultimate solution to this and so many other problems ...

... contact lenses.

In all seriousness - they've been a god-send in so many ways. I cant recommend them highly enough.

I'm now in the market for a multi-purpose wide angle zoom (by multi-purpose, I mean it will be used for all manner of subjects and shots). The Sigma 8-16 and 10-20 (both versions) and Pentax 10-20 are all on my radar but not exclusively. I'm always happy to hear of and learn from others' experiences.

My main question/dilema at the moment is : Fish-eye or rectilinear?

Discuss!

PS Copious quantities of fine malt whisky available, should you wish to pop round for a blether.

This lens is in "like new" condition and comes with both original front and rear caps, lens hood and filters. £180. I might consider px for a half decent long zoom (Sigma 120-300 or 120-400 or similar)

I'll have a look in the attic for the box but no promises!!!

I dont have a photo hosting account but I'm happy to send pics of the lens to anyone who's interested.
