Ilex publish some attractive photography books, and their e-book bundles were often good value. However, they've now been bought by Octopus, part of Hachette, and stopped e-book sales for now - it seems the new owners want to integrate them into the conglomerate. (Print editions are still available from Wordery, Amazon, etc - in fact I've just ordered one.)

However, their latest email made me return to their site, where I spotted this download is free:
The Landscape Photography Field Guide (PhotoPlus series)
I've now got a copy and on first skim it looks quite helpful - certainly, at this price, worth looking at if you're interested in the topic.

I'm not sure if you wanted a special type of receipt, but all my purchases from them clearly show the VAT number and the amount paid.

Agreed:

Bought several lenses from them in the past. Been happy with all of them and great prices.....
They have a real shop in central London, with helpful staff, even if it is mainly boxed stock for Internet orders. I bought a nice tripod from them recently; best price I found for this - Benro C2682TB1 Travel Angel II - and the price has even dropped a couple of quid since then!

I've bought several items from them - mostly recently a 10-17 Fish-eye lens at a price I couldn't resist: results here. They don't seem to be an approved dealer, but they have a good stock at keen prices even if they don't stock the full range. Some items are clearly someone's old stock - I bought a Limited lens that didn't have the Hoya name on it so must have been around for a while and the box looked a bit dusty - but it was definitely unused (and lovely). The staff are helpful, not pushy like at least one dealer I've been to, and I've never had a problem with their goods.

And it's a real shop in the middle of London, very handy for the British Museum - and two delightful cafes nearby at the London Review of Books and Aperture (yes, a photography-themed cafe).

Very pleasing! I assume you didn't record the piano while shooting the video?...

I'd forgotten to follow up my earlier comment about sound with some links. Here are a couple of short video shot on the K5-IIs at a conference. Because of limited time to set up, I recorded the sound direct into the camera using an Olympus clip mic on an extension lead:
Michael Rosen (filmed indoors: available in HD)
Bethan Marshall (takne on the hotel terrace, so more ambient noise)

I've also recorded some clips using the Olympus LS-5, with a feed through to camera to symc tracks, but yet to find time to edit these!

Very useful - thanks! Have downloaded several - not sure when I'll find time to read them all but I like the mix of short (9 pages) and more detailed.

Anybody dealt with this firm, Simply Electronics Limited? It seems they are in Hong Kong: 'By purchasing a product through the Site, customers outside of Hong Kong will normally be subjected to import duties and taxes and any other applicable customs related costs'. So there may be duties to pay....

Ilex are bundling six of Michael Freeman’s e-books for £20. They are the The Photographers Eye Series and Capturing Light. Offer open till 2 June, here.

The promotional email said these were £20 - but the site says £22! Ignore that if you want the deal; add the books using the link on the deal page (change the format when they are in your basket if you want), use the code - and you'll be charged £19.99!

I grabbed the free copy of Freeman's Perfect Exposure from Ilex when it was announced here a while ago and find it useful. Freeman's book on composition has been on my wish-list for while, too, so this seemed too good to miss. Downloading took some re-tries, I've got them all now and while they don't look too good on my basic Nook reader, they come up very nice on a computer or in iBooks on the iPad (I chose the epub format where I could).

Yes, compatible with the K-x as well (you need to have the latest firmware upgrade).

I've had one of these, from MyMemory, for while - no problems, recommended.

Thanks - the Olympus LS-5 recorder provides an line out socket so I do plan to do this when I test this out in a week or so.
