Mine is the result of browsing some pop-art for inspiration and playing with the half tone screen settings in photoshop.

Its from a picture I took of a pear with mottled and marked skin that I thought would look awsome as a black and white picture but ended up duller than dishwater, so I photochopped it up, and coloured it in and then stuck on a star burst background.

Well Done KM, that image really brings back many memories of bank holidays in uk !

Thanks for the judging Doc,

Red Berry Blur: Pnjmcc
I like the subject with the blackening berries. I’m not entirely sure what the effect of a lens baby is but I’m not sure I like half the photo sharp and half distorted. I don’t really get it and I also find the scene a bit underexposed. I’ll keep an eye open though to see what else you do with it.
That blur is the effect that the lensbaby gives, its a kind of selective focus lens that gets more distorted the further away from the point of focus. What I had attempted to do was use the prgressive blur to draw the eye to the focal point of the berries.

See here for some reviews (if you interested)

Hi All,

I had the oportunity with my employer last year to visit a mine in Western Australia to get some pictures of our products in operation. Whilst there I thought I would get some generic images of mining activity to use in presentations, word docs and literature. Unfortunately it was an overcast day, and not wanting to waste an opportunity I took a load of shots with the aim of tweaking them in pp. The image below is from that set so see what you can do with these

TIFF,

PEF.

and of course the JPEG is below

for reference the TIFF was zipped with WinRAR so I could fit in with the 50mb upload limit.

So two weeks from today makes it the 22nd June for the closing date

I look forward to your results

Must be my 80's teenage years that influenced my love of the Cross proccessing effect !

When I was having a play with macro lenses I got a cheap set of extension tubes and an old Pentax 50mm f1.7. That set up gave me some good results, the distance from subject to lens wasn't much of a problem until I had all of the tubes stacked at once.

It was pretty good for flower macros I found

Hi DigitalCG

I know I am the only entry but I was wondering if you could perhaps give me some feedback on the image processing, both good and bad?

Also I thought that one of us could post another image for processing, unless anyone has any objections?

Along the lines of what Don said but I would copy the entire image on to a new layer so you have a greater area of sky to work from.

1) Copy image to new layer
2) flip the image and add a layer mask
3) paint out all of the greenery on the layer upto the mountain ridge with a hard edged brush
4) with the softest edge brush you have paint out the dark part of the sky until your happy with it and it looks smooth
5) Flatten and save

Voila
Based on Photoshop but I am pretty certain you can do the same with GiMP

I'll kick things of with this version

Downloaded the PEF and converted to TIFF in RawThreapee

Opend the TIFF in Photoshop CS3, straightend the verticals and then cropped carefully to keep the people in the bottom L/H coner. Then Cloned in the gaps left after the straightening.
Duplicated the layer and desaturated, added a layer mask and painted almost all of it out except the bottom R/H conrner to reduce the orange/brown colour from what I think is a light
Added a Curves adjustment layer and tweaked the individual R.G.B. Channels to get a cross processed effect and the another layer with a Deep Yellow photofilter at 20% opacity to emphasis the CP effect.
Finally another layer to draw the light grey fill area and the frame to make it look like an already framed print.
